"The candidates for leader have each been asked to record victory speeches, one of which will be released alongside details of how many votes each candidate received. "

Would love to see the other two 'victory' speeches who don't win. Doubt they will see the light of day for many years. But maybe for the next leadership contest if they take part.

At least it might mean labour get back to being in the conversation.

To your point if the other two were available, you wouldn't watch them would you? 🤣

Unfortunately I really don't expect much to change, we've seen that in times like this all they really have to say is 'do more tests, get more masks, lock people up further'. Which is exactly what the Tories would be saying if it were the other way round.

A credible ( unlike Jeremy) opposition is good for the whole country as up until now the tories have pretty much had free reign, bar that bloke from the snp (Ian Blackfoot??) shouting at them every other week.

So all we need is a nice new suit.. to say get more masks, do more tests, implement more lockdown and everything will be ok?

I love the optimism

In my opinion the only time labour get in will be with press support... When that happens you will know the leader in question is unlikely to make any change to the status quo, I say this as someone who's lucky to have a skilled well paid job. Status quo works fine for me but I'd much rather a genuine progressive change for this nation even if it costs me more in tax and national insurance contribution.

I don’t see your point are you saying the lockdown should be lifted then???

I'm saying that's not opposition it's just easily batted away with soundbites and lies.

There are more effective ways to hold the government to account, questioning it's policies.
Finally if you think asking for harsher lockdown would be popular with the general public, I would say it won't be.

No one is going to veer from the course at the mo and nor should they, look at Nichols sturgeon to see that.

politics is on hold it’s a time of national crisis and just like the war unity is required.

I was only responding to you.

We've managed to derail the topic completely mind so I'll say no more.

Unfortunately it’s going to be Kier Starmer. Would love it to be Lisa Nandy
, hard as nails, take no **** Northern girl, she would have Boris and the rest of the blue noses running.

But she’d lose key votes in the south, again I think she will be brought into the shadow cabinet as well for her fire and passion.

Love him or loathe him i Remember when Tony Blair addressed conference as labour leader and he basically said you can have all your socialist ideals a principles but with out power they mean nothing.

first get elected then you can change the country.

the mantra is as true now as it was then and that why Jeremy was always the wrong choice as leader as he was never ever going to win a general election.
It’s all about winning the election now for labour and to end Tory rule then you can look at change.
