One is the keynote council of low council taxes the other the Tories have never lost before. Big gains in London and swings away from the CON men.

mmmmmmm, but conservatives gain more seats in Hartlepools 🤷‍♂️

Dare I say it might be down to the B word?

Yes and the Essex Tory heartlands Basildon Harlow Billercay Chelmsford all defended by the Tories too.

What went on in Hartlepool indicates that Johnson doesn’t seem to have harmed them at all. That said the turnout was a measly 28% so there’s not much political engagement up there Locally wise anyway.

Labour up on 2019, similar result to 2018 where they won Red Wall.

These election results were rerun in a GE and the Tories would have no majority. No good news for them.

Labour have held Sunderland comfortably.
Delighted with that. Tories had gone in heavy to try and win this. They put in the heavy PR intimidation mob. If anybody read the comments I posted in the Hartlepool Tories thread about the horrendous intimidation my friend who is standing in the Sunderland Pallion ward got as a woman would appreciate how dirty the right wing mob have played.

Anyway this result is two fingers to them.

Sadly Labour lost Pallion but at least the Tories didn’t take it. It went to Lib Dem. It was Labours only loss In Sunderland.

The more south you travel the worse it gets for the Conservatives. The Tories in London have been routed by Labour and the southern shires they have lost seats to Lib Dems.
Apart from Essex, in Harlow, Thurrock and Basildon they are taking seats off labour still.

Yes. Essex and there’s a continuing trend of voting against the rest of the region. That said the leader of Tories in Chelmsford lost his seat so it’s not been all good for the Tories in Essex.

Most of the north Home Counties are being counted this morning. Welwyn Hatfield, Watford, St Albans Will be interesting to see how they go.

Looking at the headline figures I see the Tories, as expected, have been generally decimated.

So there is hope for the future that our society has not completely failed and can see through the lies and clandestine racism.

But the vote has split again amongst the anti Tory parties.

Starmer must propose PR, this country needs it more than ever.

Not sure how many are left to declare but the Tories have lost 131 councillors so far which if it stays that way would probably see Johnson under a bit of pressure but he would probably limp on as pm.

If it gets to 200+ loses my understanding is there are 50 letters post dated sent into the 1922 committee ready to be triggered

Every anti Tory vote is moves things along. Labour weren’t going to make huge numbers this time, 50% of the seats contested are already held by Labour.

Like you, I would want to see PR and the end of FPTP. So the stronger and more varied the opposition the better. Everyone gets more of a say, rather having to hold your nose and vote for mainly one of two party’s
The last time I looked Denmark they had an operating coalition of 9 parties.
They’re not doing that bad…

Not much has changed, Conservatives still on track to win the next election. Labours share of the vote outside London is down.
Greens might be the best chance of beating them 💚
