La Palma Volcano

Is this the one that wipes out Devon and Cornwall too?
Not sure. I've read that articles disputing the potential tsunami wave aswell. But still horrible stuff for the residents surrounding the eruption.

Erupted earlier today. Absolute worst case scenario is the side of the mountain breaking off and falling into the sea which would cause a 25 foot tsunami wave which could potentially hit the east coast of the USA.
That’s just a daft scare story, it was discredited many times over the years

I thought all the volcanos on the canaries Isles were extinct for centuries.
Not at all, here in Lanzarote the volcanoes in the north are dead, but the ones in the south and west are live. At Timanfaya national park they grill sardines and chicken over the heat from the ground.

El Hiero had one going off under the sea a couple of years ago that created a new, tiny, island.

Well, if not totally discredited, it has certainly been seriously questioned.

According to a recent Newsweek article, various scientists have looked at the modeling done for the "mega-tsunami" prediction and:
suggested that several incorrect assumptions in the modeling of volcano eruptions and slope failures and their link to tsunamis led to overestimates of the "far-field effects"

Thst

That's a very limited menu. Where can I go if I don't fancy chicken or sardines?
