Kyle Joseph deal back on

If there’s any kind of 7 figure fee I’m really not overjoyed with this signing at all.

Peart-Harris and Joseph is giving me silvera/gilbert vibes, just not good enough to get us where we want to be.

I feel atm, as if the likes of Birmingham, Derby and Preston are shopping at Harrods, whilst we are scrabbling around at B&M Bargains. I’m sure (or hoping) there’s a few elite signings in the pipeline, I suppose time will tell, whether the likes of Kyles and Myles turn into champo superstars, or just mediocre signings.

Are Birmingham, Derby and Preston shopping at Harrods?

Birmingham have signed Dael Fry - who is a good championship CB - but struggles to play half a season.

Derby have paid £7 million for Bobby Clark - who was on loan at them last season, so they haven't improved.

Preston have signed Alfie Devine for £5 million - who was also on loan at them last season. They've also lost Lewis Dobbin.
Devine is probably the best out of the three and one of the signings of the window so far.... but he's not Harrods. Harrods implies best of the best.

There's been a few good signings in Ethan Galbraith (Stoke) and Andre Brooks (Sheffield to Norwich)... but we're hardly B&M bargains in comparison.

I think people need to have a good look at how bang average our squad is - past 7-8-9 first teamers it's not very good.

These players have been brought in to push for a first team place, they are not nailed on starters if fit.

Can see a few more players like these brought in over the summer.....while getting rid of the deadwood.

agreed, i can see conway and whittaker being first choice with strelec in the middle but joseph can play any of those 3 positions, has the engine of conway and 0.3 goals per game and 0.2 assists per game so should contribute well over the season. this is the kind of signing we should be making.

Really we need to improve on what we have and push some of last seasons starters onto the bench, I can’t see either of the signings doing that really, spending 4-5M pound for worse than what we currently have is concerning. I’d rather spend it on an overhaul of the academy given the dearth of talent coming out of there in the last 5 years

If our plan is Conway, Whittaker and Strelec then we've learnt absolutely F A from this season.

A CF very much in the style of Conway. Hull fans seem to think he will be a decent signing for us.

Unfortunately no Conway equals no press. We saw that in the playoffs. Also why we always looked better when he came on as a rare sub.

Clearly this lad can do what Strelec and Sene can't. A lot more to a CF than saying 'he doesn't score many'. The same return as Strelec yet no doubt offers so much more.

Surely our fans must understand why Hellberg wants a player in his 'style?'.

well that consists of two of the top 10 scorers in the league and we got to the playoffs but could have been on autos without that bad run, and strelec's gpg minutes factored up to a full season would have him on 18 goals, so having someone to challenge conway for his place and to replace his pressing ability would have been what we were missing this season. conway or Whittaker going off pretty much meant one of the new guys coming on and they rarely theatened, I'd take 8 goals and 5 assists from 27 starts any day of the week

I mostly agree - the starting team isn't the problem. Strelec had a slow start but improved towards the end of the season - If he can start this season how he finished last, he's good enough.

The problem was the squad players... subbing Strelec, Conway, Whittaker and McGree off - for the likes of Silvera, Gilbert, Sene, Hansen and Sarmiento.

Those are the players we need to improve, and so far... Peart-Harris and Kyle Joseph are the first step in doing that.
