KSI v Jake Paul “Fills any stadium in the world”

Probably best for Jake Paul to take that fight.. extend his boxing career and pump up the numbers for the Tommy Fury fight.

I don’t know who this KSI chap is, but hopefully he’s a top level operator who makes this Paul’s last farse
I used to watch KSI fail at playing video games in his bedroom when he first started out on YouTube and I was about 16/17.

13 years later and he’s potentially selling out ‘any stadium in the world’ for boxing another YouTuber.

Sadly the ops opening statement is probably true. It’s a funny old world.

There was actually one really good fight in Saturdays card - badou Jack vs makabu.

I actually watched the previous ksi card my first YouTubers card - it was actually entertaining mainly because of the low skill levels and the flailing arms everywhere - leads to a lot of ko’s.

I'm 38, is it normally accepted behaviour that I have absolutely no idea who these people are? Assume their target demographic is MUCH younger than me?

TBF I actually like KSI and the Sidemen too. But they are nothing more than games bloggers who got lucky. I honestly think youtube is both a brilliant and terrible thing. Anyone can produce "TV" and it means that any talent does get noticed by more people. However, as Mr Beast has proven you don't actually need to be any good. You just need to play the algorithm which is clearly a bad thing. And for them to be considered as anything more than bloggers is also sad. There should be a path form youtube to proper TV but to start making fizzy drinks or being able to sell more tickets for a boxing match than most boxers is sad.

It would probably break some records - and that's the sad state of the world we currently live in.

People would rather watch a couple of content creators throw some punches, than an actual high level quality boxing match between two greats.

It's not KSI's or Paul's fault tbf. They're just exploiting a hole in the market (and fair play to them, they'll make a fortune from it).

Apparently…
It would, of course it would, probably 5x over, Social media/ YouTube are probably two of the biggest consumers of people's time we have these days.

What a tragic world we now live in.
I don't think so, it's just a result of having things like this forum we're on, or social media/ more connectivity etc. I just look at this like an exhibition match, of two people who are extremely popular in their fields.

If Jimmy Saville had fought Michael Barrymore in the 80's it would have sold out Wembley too, same as if Messi and Ronaldo did Gladiators :censored:

Sure, it's not boxing, not proper boxing to a high level anyway, same as why Paul fought Tommy, not Tyson, but don't think of it like proper boxing.

Social Media and YouTube have more users/ supporters than any boxer, in fact the number of people who log onto social media today alone, is probably more in number than 1000x the number of boxing fans who have ever been to an actual fight, since the beginning of time.

It's just a pro from one area, getting to a basic level in one area, and pulling support over from one to the other, it's always happened, just in different ways.

TV does not = quality either by the way.

I prefer YouTube to TV these days.

Yeah, most are confusing this, for what it is. Kids/ younger folk/ social media folk would watch them do anything, that's what their market is. Even if 1% of them took an actual interest in this, then it would be more than the number of fans a typical boxer has at Tommy's level.

As for Paul or KSI fans, 99% of them would probably never go to a boxing match, and 90% wouldn't ever pay for a PPV fight, they're a different fanbase.

I don't know one actual boxing fan who would have bought this fight, certainly none for Paul. A few might for Tommy, but that's not because of what he's done in the ring, it's because he was on love island, and he only got that gig because he's related to Tyson. You're probably getting 5% of Paul's fans interested, and probably 5% of Tyson Fury's (not Tommy Furys own fans), who have watered down to watching Love Island with the missus, then further watered down into this. I doubt many love island only fans bought it, probably as most of these are women and not who this sort of PPV is aimed at.

Don't think of it like a boxing match, it's not, think of it like a guy extremely famous for youtube stunts/ social media doing something against Love Island, it doesn't matter whether it's boxing, a drinking competition or tiddly winks. It's like Brian Lara playing Tennis against Usain Bolt, Tennis fans won't be bothered, but they're not the target market, the respective fans of the participant's area are, and enough will go for it.

Neither of them are likely to make the Top 10 in any boxing field, but if they do then fair play, they will have had to do some graft to get there. Sure they may get an opportunity to get near that, which no other would have got, but sport is filled with that anyway, it's like how pro's kids always get trials in any sport, and they always have.

People talk like only Paul is the bad one, like he's not earned that, but Tommy's only there for similar reasons too.

Totally agree, most TV is awful, or certainly not anywhere near specific to what I would rather be watching.

I probably watch 5x more YouTube than Sky TV (Sport/ Movies etc), Netflix and Prime combined.

I’ve recently got into building things/woodwork, it’s so easy for me to go on YouTube and look at different ideas for how to build whatever it is and which tools to use. I could look for articles but I think prefer videos over text.

I can’t find that on TV, certainly not with ease anyway.
