Kirk Douglas dies

Damn - read his autobiography "The Ragman's Son" just last year - an interesting man - definitely one for the times, sex addict and some time braggart by his own words, he describes himself as a troubled man who was sometimes unfairly hard on those around him, including (maybe especially) family. He lived a life few of us could imagine but I'm not sure he came to find any peace until his later years.

RIP

Ironically one of today’s winning Chase contestants was raving on about the film. It was her favourite and she wore red. What a trooper! It did lead us into a conversation about whether he was still with us. Probably not at that point. We knew he was over 100. My own favourite was “Heroes of Telemark” my aunt was involved in that in real life and if you walk from Baker Street to “that zebra crossing” you pass the building where the plot was hatched.

loved those old viking movies he was in ....I also read his book last year - very honest and like all of us had his flaws....
