You want the monarch to influence government policy so are either don't realise what that would mean or you do know so don't want a democracy.
Charles has already tried to influence government (black spider letters) and the Queen altered 1,036 laws before allowing them to be debated in the House of Lords. What he is talking about, I guess is a much more directly visible abuse of the position of power in the UK
 
There was a 2021 survey, where 62% said they were Royalists. (33% in the 18-24 yr age group). The % in favour increases with age.
people are a little more educated and enlightened through the years, I suspect this will naturally start to change against, but it'll take decades to reach the tipping point unfortunately
 
I think the current problem is the corrupt cabal in government spaffing billions taking us down a dangerous anti democratic route.

Interesting.

It could be that support in the monarchy is stronger in the older generation, or it could be that most people grow out of republicanism as they age.

I identified as a republican at that age, but I don't now.
