Kieran Scott Article in the Northern Echo

I think if Scott had been in his role at the time the decision to appoint Woodgate would never have happened
needs must, limited funds and a job not fancied by many - keep costs down and to tread water in the championship for a season

Looks like he has taken the pressure off Bausor, the manager and others with a co-herent plan and getting on with things behind the scenes, so the manager doesn't need to worry about them. The transfer window so far proves that. If he can offload those players we wish to get rid of, on our terms, even better. Let's hope the signings work out and he continues the good work. UTB.

A good and interesting read.

Think we have made a really good football decision in bringing in Scott. Sounds like a large part of the decision to get rid of Warnock was his which is good to know he doesn’t accept rubbish. Super appointment in Wilder too.

Looks like we've gone all professional.

Good read, thanks for sharing.

Interesting that Kieran is the negotiator, I thought he’d be more of a scouting nerd from his background.

Judging by how smooth sailing this window has been can only be a good thing as he must be very good at it, and I guess leaves Bausor more to concentrate on commercial things and being the conduit to Gibson. Am assuming he was the guy who would do transfer negotiations before.

Getting a manager like Wilder and bringing in every target without stress and early in the window, when a couple of them seemed quite ambitious, is a hell of an advert for how effective Scott is.

Overall it’s nice to see Gibson delegating work to good people who are good at their jobs. The setup sounds so professional and stable now and will give Gibson much better bang for his buck - all exciting stuff. I don’t think any of us could ever doubt Gibson’s heart has always been in the right place for us, but I think his support has been burned by a few managers who failed expensively and left Gibson picking up the tab. I think a director of football approach might work out brilliantly for him and for the club, even though it means handing over a bit of power.

Great to hear the penny has dropped for Gibson that he needs more help with footballing decisions, particularly on who to appoint as manager. Last time someone picked a manager for him we were promoted 2 and a half seasons later.

I daresay if Scott had been here at the time we wouldn't have appointed Monk, Pulis or Woodgate. And we wouldn't have needed to appoint Warnock.

We certainly wouldn't have appointed three managers in quick succession who were so stylistically different.

Good read, interesting comments. Find it incredible we have taken so long to adopt this model, from the outside it seems a logical position to have a "Head/Director of Football", a continuous post overseeing all the coming and goings.
As a club moving forward, this is the most positive I've felt since Karankas promotion season. We may not go up this season, but for the future everything certainly seems to be clicking into place nicely.👍
