In the 'wild west' world of scouting in the Championship looks like we dodged a bullet here.
We were closely linked last summer IIRC.
On loan at Millwall all season and been injured a lot - looked at stats and it seems he has made 17 appearances (11 starts) scoring 3 goals.
Who else might we have considered buying/loaning this time last year?
- Lyle Taylor, 38 appearances and 4 goals for Forest.
- Yaya Sanogo, 9 appearances and zero goals for Huddersfield
This seems to be the kind of level we were shopping at.
I'd imagine all three of these players will be on good salaries - north of £20k per week?
Who should we look to sign this year who is within our measly budget?
Is there a Plan B instead of gambling large amounts on has-beens? (or never were's )
BTW , just throwing a name out there....
Millwall fans seem to rate left-sided defender/midfielder Scott Malone. He's on loan to them from Derby and out of contract in the summer.
I know it sounds obvious but is it worth our recruitment team checking out other fans forums to see who is playing well?
The information is out there and it's free? Do you think we already do this kind of 'desk research'?
Surely even the most short-sighted and clueless fan would have instantly spotted that signing Ashley Fletcher was a bad idea.
