Kelham O'Hanlon

Registered No551 when Malcolm Allison handed Kelham his debut at home to Shef Weds on the 15th January 1983 & sadly, that was the end of my favourite Boro keeper, Jim Platt

Kelham went on to make97 appearences for the mighty Boro, when he became Boro's 40th 1st team GK

During an injury that sidelined him he was watching from the stands when Stephen Pears made his debut (our 1st ever loanee) at the end of the game the holgate were singing 'sign him on', Kelham must have known his day were numbered

I liked Kelhams time at the Boro, a young keeper playing behind a struggling defence

Really? I remember him being jeered as "Kelham O'Handless". Never seemed confident, but that could have been his defenders giving him nightmares.

Fave Kelham moment was when he returned to Ayresome for the first time playing for Rotherham. At the start of the half where he was defending at the Holgate end he applauded the fans and someone threw half a brick at him (more jokingly than intending to hit him). Kelham just smiled picked the brick up and placed it behind the goal

Jokingly threw half a brick at him?
I suppose you had to be there to appreciate the nuance.

Lowest moment for Kelham must've been when he was at fault for both goals in a home defeat to Blackburn?
2nd one i'll never forget - a shot had stuck in the mud on the line & he slid in haplessly to retrieve it & sure enough ended up in the net with the ball!🙈
Afterwards it was revealed he'd received an IRA death threat before the game! Obviously a hoax, but must've affected him!🙈😰

Quite an interesting fact is that his sister won a handwriting competition when she was at St.Francis school Whinney Banks.
