Karanka mocked by celebration

maybe fans in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones

Hi lightweight.

My post concerned the last TEN [10] years at Birmingham.

Regards the stats of Middlesbrough "Managers" its worth pointing out several pertinent facts - which include the accuracy of the information - the time period [that posted is incorrect] and the relevance of each. Its what I have deduced from Birmingham`s "Management" record which forms the basis of my prognosis.

Its worth pointing out that three of those "Managers" [Venus / Agnew / Liddle] were temporary "Managers" and in charge for a total of:

Liddle - 3 days.

Agnew [2 spells as temporary Manager - including 1 which lasted 8 days] - 83 days.

Venus - 23 days.

Total: 109 days.

My post was to highlight instability in terms of longevity - symptomatic of Birminghams problem (s).

Other than Woodgate and Monk - the remaining Managers [ Mowbray / Warnock / Karanka / Pulis / Strachan] have had a period of year(s) to work and build a team.

On my part, there is no emotional motivation infered or intended in my post, but an objective fact - which fans have to take into account.

Cheers(y)

Our fans are in no place to comment after how we treated Brian Robson at the end of his time as our manager. I was ashamed that day at the end of the season when him and El Tel came out to applaud the crowd and Robbo was booed.

That was a bit of lack of class, not surprising from Dean though. Karanka clearly had lost part of the dressing room, and I guess his signings and the english players he inherited didn't get on too well. Sadly I think Friends goose is probably cooked at Brum.

Echoes of the apparent divide in our dressing room during his time with Boro?

Hopefully if he gets another job in England he signs an entire squad of Spanish/Latin American players and bins these Sunday League wannabies :)

Dean has an affinity with the the Birmingham fans which maybe hard for fans of other clubs to understand ( works endlessly with charity’s which my Dad is associated with , Took A 50% wage deduction when Birmingham were going through a financial meltdown last year).
Unfortunately Karanka was a wrong fit for Birmingham and maybe needs to step back to a number 2 somewhere.

Objective facts are fine but statistics can be interpreted in different ways. The average tenure of a championship manager is 1.23 years so by that reckoning most clubs over a 10 year period should have 8 managers

Thanks for that.
The actual number of permenant Managers we`ve had in the last 10 years is 6 - which is pretty good by that standard then. (y)
Whats your take on the Birmingham situation?

Unfortunately little or no information from the owners of the club ( even about the true owners ), no sense of direction with approach to management so every time they change a manager it never a similar style ( so each manager has players who don’t suit their style of play and then not given type to build a team). The fans are of a similar ilk and attitude to Middlesbrough supporters ( the trajectory has been similar over the last 40 years which has possibly shaped this. Old third division on the brink of going bust in the 80’s, floating around top of the championship and then the premiership and onto win a a cup. Then back to the championship )
We have the advantage of a stable owner but Birmingham complained about the Old owners ( the golds who bought West Ham) who sold them to a Hong Kong consortium and they have struggled ever since.
Maybe a lesson to us to appreciate Steve Gibson and the Stability he has bought us.
