Will always have a soft spot for the man and will always feel sad that it didn’t work out. Those 2 seasons were really special and I fell in love with football again, thanks to him.
Aitor was immense shame he was let down in the January transfer market as if we got a signing in to replace Ramirez we would of had a fighting chance to get more than the 28 points we managed. As we did have a half decent start to the season really but the wheels fell of as Aitor got the hump about the sigings. But we waited to them go spend 50 million on garbage in 3 strikers who aren't even at the club anymore as they failed badly

Bryan Robson talked later about how you have to be attacking to survive in the Prem since you are playing against the best strikers in the world who can create and score from nowhere and getting clean sheets was impossible. Therefore he reckoned that you need to score at least twice to win in the Prem.
However Aitor carried his defence at all costs approach from the Championship into the Prem and it basically failed him. I'd like to think he would've learnt from that Prem season if he ever came back. Although he seems a pretty dogmatic bloke who sticks to his beliefs regardless.
