Kansas City Chiefs fans need amputations after attending match

A lady at work her husband was arrested following the Kansas City victory parade.
He was in the crowd near the two guys arguing that opened fire on each other and when the police arrived they arrested everyone and he spent 48 hours in a group holding cell, without a phone/phone call.

Has been told he may be called as a witness & so would have to be back in the US for the duration of the trial.

He's been subpoenad and is having to travel back out there in a week.

Could they make him go if he didn't want to? Not suggesting he doesn't, just genuinely interested.
What if he doesn’t?

He doesn’t owe America anything, does he?
I believe he can be required to if he has pertinent information but he works for a US company, hence being in Kansas in the 1st place, and it sounds like he wants to avoid any uneccesary legal action that could have an impact on his ability to travel to the US.

Are they paying his costs to return?

In the UK if a witness is abroad and is unwilling to attend to give evidence, they don't attend to give evidence. There may be long and complex methods to bring people over that I am not aware of, but they certainly aren't used for bog standard cases. There will be no further repercussions for them if they refused to give evidence.

Yeah, works the other way too as well doesn't it.

Didn't a woman in the US Air Force kill a British biker down south, by driving on the wrong side of the road. We couldn't even get the US to send her over here to sentence her, that seems more important that someone being an additional witness.

she had diplomatic immunity although that is controversial in itself as she was employed in the US and only the partner of her husband who was working here so not really entitled to it

Unsure how it works for other countries. Probably similar though.
The Anne sacoolas thing was different as she was the defendant rather than a witness so it's governed by extradition. We seem to be Americas bitch when it comes to this sort of thing.

Yeah, a lot about the whole way that went stinks, and it's not fair at all.
