Just write down what you've seen as a Boro since that awful day in 1986 & onwards

From the end of the world scenario, to the being on top of the world, to coming down to earth with a massive bump, we've seen the lot

But be thankful we still have a football club to support

Somebody once said to me a long time ago that there is nothing normal about the Boro.

The years since 1986 have proved that again and again.

I find it very stressful at times if the truth be known but it’s never dull.

Why should we be thankful?! Why can't we appreciate what Gibson did but be ambitious and competitive too? It's not mutually exclusive. Getting a bit sick of these 'know your place, be thankful and be quiet' type posts in all honesty.

I never went to ayresome park until probably 92 and only went to a couple of games there.
My dad hated footy, my mam thought every fan got killed by flying darts.
It wasn't until senior school I really got into it with the lads. Numerous home games with various aways on the ra-ras, normally losing. Liverpool 5-1, newcastle 3-1, a really wet day at the baseball ground and the relegation at Leeds being the stand out points.
I remember thinking 'just leave the little fella alone deano.' What a sad day.
More success when we got back up and then off to serve big queen lizzie.
In Germany for the cup win.
In Iraq for the euro dream (although I managed to save enough cans of strong bow to drown a Iraqi battalion. And I needed it that night. What a lesson we got).
Back home to boro and a few years of the odd game here, odd game there then back on it when my boy was old enough.
City and United in the cup games stands out, on the pitch against Brighton then great days out at Leicester and west ham in the premier league.
Some of the days out we've had are second to none. He's not yet left school and he's 30 odd grounds in.

Theres good times and bad but I'll always follow the boro and so will my boy. That will never change. Managers and players will come and go but once it's got you your in for the long haul.

Remember... you've got to experience the bad to really appreciate the good.

Michael my post was reference to the Boro & what we have gone through, unfortunately a couple of teams have sadly fallen by the way

I don't mean to have a go at Boro fans I've stated many times Boro fans have an opinion that wasn't my intention

Although it seems a remote possibility just now I have a feeling the competitiveness and bigger ambitions will return in the not too distant future. You have to accept that a lot of the premier league money got spaffed on some signings which looked good at the time but have proved to be very poor. It takes time to work them out of the club.

I've got that feeling as well holgate. Just stay up this season, which I think we will, and then a summer of movement. More players in and out than we ever have.

At this moment in time I suspect we are significantly below our historical average in terms of league position. That is bad yes, I'm sure we can all agree?

Action is needed now, not hope or aspirations or principles.

You got to have a lot of suffering to appreciate the times of celebration whether or not its winning promotion or avoiding relegation.
