The NE isn't a place like Yorkshire or Lancashire, it is merely a geographical description. Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham and North Yorkshire are all in the North East of England.

We are not and have never been part of the tees valley as it doesn’t exist.
It’s a made up brand by the gazette TDC to make Teesside sound better.

The Tees Valley Combined Authority is an official administrative region.
Ben Houchen if the directly elected mayor of the Tees Valley.
It exists.
It is a relatively new name for an existing area, but every name is just made up to begin with.
Hartlepool and Darlington aren't traditionally seen as part of Teesside, so the name covers them too.
