Just re-reading the Woodgate unveiling transcript.....

Seems insane now, can't believe we've sunk so low after 30 odd games........
What will be your brand of football?

Woodgate: Firstly, I want to pass the ball.
Pass the ball, keep the ball, I want players to run with the ball, it's important that when you lose the ball you win it back as quickly as possible.
Obviously don't go gung-ho, there are times to press and to know when to press.
That's my philosophy, that's what I want to do. I want to win games scoring goals. If you look at this league now, you go up by scoring goals.
If you don't, you won't go up.
If you look at my backroom team: Leo, Danny and Robbie, we'll have that in abundance, especially with Robbie by my side.

Q: Speaking to fans this morning, the one concern is the perception of that lack of experience. Do you understand that, and what would you say to allay their fears?

SG: Well, there’s a lot of people with experience, you’ve got to have the ability to use it. A lot of people can have experience, and not have the ability to use it. What I’ve got from this bunch is enthusiasm and unbelievable experience. Look at his experience, and his, and his. Football is quite a basic game, but it becomes complex because we make it complex. I’m just very happy to have these four here, supplemented by Neil and Adrian. It feels right. I’ve got a hunch about this, I hope.

Q: Will being here already help with the transition?

JW: “I know every single player from U-12s to first team, I know the club inside out.

“I know what needs to change, I know what needs to keep going in the right direction.”

"I've got a hunch about this, I hope."

I wonder whether SG applies this logic to Bulkhaul.

The day the club died . Load of old clap trap

Don't be silly. The club isn't dead, it's going through a period that it's been through many times before and will no doubt go through again.

Woodgate and Keane have been poor appointments, the football has been disappointing to say the least, but it's a bit of an overreaction to say it's dead.

Football is very different to what it was the last time were were relegated to the old Div3. We still have enough games to get out of it, but if we do go down, it will be an absolute disaster. We will find it very hard to come back. The stadium will be more empty than it has ever been, the standard of football will be the worst known in the Riverside era and there will be even less money than there is now. It will be harder to run the academy and to make it work or create revenue.

People need to stop playing down the predicament we are in. That is the type of mentality that his got us into this mess in the first place.

I'm not playing down the predicament. I'm stating the day Woodgate was appointed is not the day the club died.

Yes it was a bad decision to appoint him, yes relegation if it happens will be bad for the club. But look at the teams in the top flight at the moment who've had a spell in the 3rd division since the last time we were there.

But those clubs (seem) to be well run, with an ethos and experienced managers who can deliver. Look at where we and Burnley were a few years back, side by side, with us arguably a better resourced more attractive proposition. How the **** have we gone from that to vaguely being okay with relegation to League One because a few other clubs have 'bounced back' to the Prem in the past?

Do you honestly think Gibbo and Woodgate could deliver a resurrection from the bones of our **** in League One to re-established in the Premier League?

What confidence do you have in us identifying (and signing) the talent needed to build a promotion winning squad? Either from this league or League One?

And if we could do it, why would we start doing it now, rather than when Gibbo told us these problems were identified on relegation from the Premier League and they would be addressed?

The blind faith is baffling to me.
