Just not our day

Yep a really poor performance all round. Stoke had it way to easy and looked fitter and stronger. It happens. Move on and hopefully respond well.

Poor performance. We had a days rest on Stoke and only one change from Norwich, so I am not buying the injuries as McGree and Lenihan haven’t played for a few games. Hackney was a miss, but again one man should not affect things too much, too many were half hearted from the off. I though Josh tried hard, but came too deep or out wide too often, Crooksy was our best player.

They caused overloads on the flanks, Engel had little support tbf. Both goals were due to woeful defending. I think we were almost a little complacent and dwelt on the ball too long. Howson and Barlaser were so slow together first half especially. Lets hope it was just a bad day at the office, Stoke pressed and harried but were not great. Ah well, at least I don’t have to watch the EFL show later.

Bring on Exeter, we can’t play as bad again, it was worse than the first few games of the season. UTB.

Last season at times I though we were 90% there to the perfect championship team.

This year we are 65/70% there. Within 4/5 first teamers missing there isn’t much to differentiate us from the bulk of the championship this year

Ah well we move on

Not great though was it.
It wasn't great Jedi. We were so sloppy in possession in the first 45 it was difficult to recover from that.

I think there was a case for much earlier subs today. The entire team were off it and whilst I understand why coaches leave their substitutions until after 60 minutes, the only way we were going to get something today was by switching things up much sooner.

Had we got a goal and made it 2-1, I think Stoke would have struggled to contain us.

Still, onwards and upwards

It’s a difficult one, as our game plan is fantastic when it works, but should we have maybe gone more direct when the changes were made? We created a fair few half chances, but nothing of note. A few opportunities to have a shot too but we were trying to walk it in a bit. Karanka was the same, never strayed from the tactics and formation, and more often than not it works, but games like today, especially when chasing the game, it would be nice to try something a bit different.

Think we should have made subs at half time and really gone for Stoke, Rogers and Lath looked lively and mcgree,o brien and Hackney would all be in our best 11 for me.
Dieng has been superb since he signed but thought he could have done better with the first goal also

Very much how I feel about yesterday. To concede the early goal from a set piece kind of set the tone.

Stoke played and pressed us well. They were very clinical compared to us too. Just a typical championship game which can happen.

We’ve been on a brilliant run and felt yesterday we just looked off the pace throughout. We‘ve been missing some key players due to injury and relying on the same players a lot recently. Hackney was undoubtedly a huge miss too.

Take that one on the chin, kick on again Tuesday/Saturday. Hopefully some of the injuries will be back in time for Leicester.
