Bill had been £48 a month for Sports, Movies and entertainment plus HD - never understood why they charged more for HD but anyway...

End of my contract and they put the price up to £81 a month

cant really justify that to watch Boro on the red button with terrible picture quality so cancelled the lot.

Yeah now they have put the price up I'll be contacting them to cancel and what retentions have to say.

The extras for HD etc is ridiculous I agree

Whenever my Sky contract comes to an end (and they whack it up to £80+), I just cancel and then they either end up offering me a good discount within the 30 days cancellation period, or if they don't, I sign up using one of the 'new customer' offers under my Mrs name (and vice versa)

Done this for a good few years now.

My package was put up to £74 a month last week - called them to cancel and it's now back at £49 with a few more channels thrown in.

I cancelled Sky on Sunday as the bill had gone up to £98. Have switched to Virgin and got the biggest bundle they do for £89, which includes every channel (except Sky Atlantic), inc. Sky Sports, BT Sport, all movies etc, 600mbps fibre and an unlimited calls, texts and date SIM card. It goes up to £140 in 18 months time, but I'll just change it then. Also got the first 3 months free.

cough cough get a decent iptv sub which includes ifollow. In fact the FHD iptv streams i have are better quality than nowtv

Wait til you have been signed up to Virgin Media for a few years. They ring me again and again from call centres. I bring this up because my first reaction to that 2 second gap is to put the phone down. I don't want to encourage those calls. Then they offer loyalty rewards by pushing me to sign up to extras for free. I then have to follow the bills closely because these unwanted extras convert to charges after several months. I have got to say over the past couple of years their behaviour is terrible.

Sky are exactly the same though, its which you find to be the lesser of two evils.

Yes, am sure you are right. Although I had to cancel a family member's SKY package last week and they were really great and very considerate over the phone, even though I did not have all the password etc.

Getting charged extra for watching in HD is ridiculous.

I mean, seriously, who watches anything in SD these days?
I pay £3 extra per month to have my Now TV in HD. I do agree that it's a bit cheeky. It's basically limiting the stream on purpose to make it more cr*p.

That said, it's well worth the extra £3. My HD stream is brilliant. (y)

Wait, Sky still charge extra for HD?

What year is it again?

🤣

Got rid of Sky about 6 months ago. Got NETFLIX, Prime etc at a lot cheaper. Not missed SKY and looking at some of the shiote they put on they will have to me good to get us back. Still getting begging letters.

This is what im doing - got netflix, prime video and a years free trial on apple tv. for the Boro games I'll just pay to watch the odd match via the website, that way the money goes to the club (I think?) and not Sky

apparently I can keep the sky box and use it for free sat

On the verge of ditching sky as well. The cost is ridiculous, paying extra for what should be the norm is nonsense. I watch too much TV anyway, and with Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon prime, there is more than enough to keep me busy.

I'll watch less TV, and instead play guitar more and read more.
