Junior Hoilett

Did it refer to the fact that he is the only professional footballer whose name rhymes with a public conveniences? Apart of course from ex Man United defender Graeme Hogg.
And not forgetting footballers who had the same name as a public convenience.

Stern John
Ian St John.

Given Warnock likes directness and pace in the wide areas I'm not sure this is anything more than paper talk, given JH is only going to get slower at his age.

But Warnock knows him well and he has that X factor to get players performing to their maximum potential.

I would rather we go for Grosicki if this is the age bracket we are looking at. Out of contract next month with WBA

Good shout if we could afford his wage demands. I'd take him over Hoilett.

Although with either deal its dependent on wages and who else is available to cover the wide areas.

On a point of pedantry, he's 31 in June isn't he?

We need numbers in with limited funds. If Hoilett comes in on a free alongside a better, younger wide man then it's not a bad signing. We do need more strength in depth.

However if it ends up as Hoilett and NML as our main wingers (for example) I wouldn't be particularly thrilled.
Yeah sorry he is 30 now. Still stand by the rest I said though just subtract a year(y)

Saville and McNair have never had better seasons for us?
I think they've both dropped off since January and both had pretty poor seasons the season before.

I'd say they've both performed at the bare minimum I'd expect for £5million/£6million pound players that finished mid table in the Championship.

I don't think either of them were particularly great or 'performing at their maximum potential' due to the manager for any prolonged period.

Except Akpom, Britt, Spence, Betenelli, Saville, Fletcher and latterly Howson & McNair etc etc................
Akpom was an unknown quantity, but I agree, he's been poor, Britt was, well, Britt, Saville has been decent (chipped in with goals from midfield, Howson brilliant, save for the tail end of the season and McNair a revelation. Betinelli was permanently dropped at Fulham and therefore I'm not sure its possible to judge, but he's been a disappointment regardless.

There's always an exception that proves the rule, but I do genuinely think NW has the trick at getting the best out of players - his track record proves that.
