Jumped on the Squid game bandwagon today

I gave the first episode of this a go the other night and I thought that it was pretty rubbish. And I watch and appreciate loads of Korean cinema. Just seemed like something I've seen a million times before but not anywhere near as good as the stuff it was imitating. Can't see why people are getting so excited about it to be honest.

Not watched many Korean TV shows but I did enjoy 'Kingdom' and 'Goblin' and 'Vagabond'. Don't think I'll bother watching any more of this 'Squid Game' stuff. It wasn't awful but it wasn't very good either. Just an inferior version of 'Battle Royale'.

I've only watched one episode, I enjoyed it but immediately felt the same, it was a Battle Royale copy for the 4K UHD Netflix generation that are too young to know moderately obscure foreign movies from 20 years ago

Just finished it… my main prediction was wrong, although I did pick up what another posted mentioned about the old unwritten rule of television. Enjoyed the series overall but the last 25 minutes or so felt like a slog to be honest.

No Battle Royale 😉

I remember thinking 'this is f*cked up' when I first saw it. I'm not sure you'd get away with school kids killing each other in western movies.

I wish they had more games, rest of it was a bit dull and predictable.
Yes the first game was mind blowing, Gobsmacker as I hadn't heard the hype. But agreed, it got a bit predictable and staid after that

But still very watchable

I really enjoyed it, though I didn't like the ending at all.

It was nothing ground breaking and I'd agree with the comments that it declined as you got a bit the deeper in to the episodes you got, but it was an entertaining series that wasn't burdened by having too many episodes like a lot of American programmes would be.

My teenage step son and step daughters are mad on it, and I keep hearing the hype. But I won't watch it as its just too popular for my liking, it's the suppressed rebel in me if it's popular then avoid it at all cost. I will stick to Time team re runs on more 4. 😂

Watched the first three last night, enjoyed it. Took the advice from above and having watched the first episode dubbed wathched the next two with English subtitles, much better.

Not normally my type of thing, but easy to watch and entertaining, I’ll certainly see it through…………. Unless I get eliminated 😳

My other half worked out the twist after the marbles episode. I didn’t have a clue.

I do agree though some of the episodes ended with such tension. The whole series ended with a bit of “meh”

I guess they had to emphasise the anti capitalism allegory otherwise it’s just Korean gore

Nah, I bet you're right. It's painfully predictable (and deeply unrealistic). I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but I made four predictions for twists in the final couple of episodes and they were all correct.
You watched it expecting realism?
Congrats on the 4 predictions by the way. I made five, so there.
