Judging players before you've seen them

Is an attribute lots of Boro fans have and I don't get it. I saw we were linked with Sammy Silvera from Australia, and some of the comments on Facebook, Instagram etc are that he's not good enough without even seeing them play, just because he plays in Australia. If that was the case, Cahill, Schwarzer or Kewell might never have had a shot.
Just because a player is from lower leagues, or plays in a country where football isn't great, doesn't mean they're not the right players for us, we obviously have some clued up scouts, and we clearly don't have the big bucks like other teams, so we have to think of players like Eberechi Eze, or Jamie Vardy who just need a chance.

Its an attribute lots of FOOTBALL fans have.

We have the ability to be judge, jury and executioner all without the trial when it comes to players ability! 😂

It’s what we have to do. Buy players before they become established in top leagues and are then incredibly expensive.
Off the top of my head Osimhen, Haaland, Caicedo, Salah, Van Dijk all played at a very low level before they became superstars

We all have opinions.
Sometimes we get it wrong.
I thought Alves, Gestede and Lee Dong-Gook were all the new "messiahs" at the time.

If we sign a young fairly unknown player people say we need to sign better, if we get linked to an established player in his prime people say we need to find hidden gems and wonderkids just like *insert club name* did with *insert cheap player who did well name*.

And if we sign mature pros people say their legs have gone and they’re only here for the money.

Come on, we all know "I was the first to slag him off" is the highest accolade any Boro fan can achieve!

We all know harsh, hard to impress judges are the best judges, even if they are wrong most of the time.

What we need are young up and comers who are already proven in the PL. If we can't afford them, it must be due to a lack of ambition.

Not to mention that players seem to get judged to be over the hill younger and younger every transfer window. If we are linked to a player who is 29 or 30 we will get "too old with no sell on value" the fact that he could have 3 or 4 good seasons ahead and bring elements to the team which we are lacking(leadership, experience, steady head for younger players development) isn't taken into account.

Sivera is playing in a very poor league and not massively standing out. He hasn't got any international caps for a low ranked international team and he hasn't even really played youth international football (2 under 23 caps in total and he's 22).

I am happy for us to take low cost punts on several players but I would expect most of them to fail. If you get one right out of 5 then it is probably worth it. Means I wouldn't be excited by any individual signing and on average saying they aren't good enough you will be right.

Pi55 off with your stats and sensible arguments! 👀

Sounds a bit like Chuba 12 months ago (apart from the youth international appearances).

If we sign him, then the scouts have obviously seen something they can work with.
