Does he get enough credit? Effectively won us the league cup in 10 minutes, including drawing the foul for the penalty.

Not exactly a world beater but on his day he was a good player and scored some big goals. I seem to remember he was absolutely awful at penalties though.

We were spoilt for class strikers with people like Yakubu, the White Feather, Yakubu, Jimmy Floyd etc etc and consequently had a couple of good players who were perhaps a bit unappreciated .

Having lived through the Gestede years, it seems like a decade, that lack of appreciation will not happen again.

I agree, Maccarone, Nemeth and Job were all good players in their own right but we were missing a presence upfront for a few years till Jimmy, Yak and Viduka all rocked up!

Always liked Job, not really a out and out striker but very decent, scored some beauties too, that goal against sporting was special, and the one away at united when we won 3-2 was quality.

Job would walk into any boro team since viduka left for me.

Good song too

Anybody remember the match of the day interview en he'd obviously just started learning english and he said "we worked our b0ll0cks off" priceless

Looked a poor buy initially but McClaren to his credit found a position for him to be effective In for a couple of seasons and turned into a decent player for us.

Turned up at my wedding reception night do. Went to ask a load of interlopers to leave but it was revealed to me that he was there as a guest of the owner. (Mr Spensley). He then jumped our mam's taxi as she was waiting to go home.
Necky sod 😁

Have we had a more laid back player? Not sure he ever got angry or excited 😂

Bit of an unsung hero in 04/05. With Viduka out injured a lot he played quite a lot games with Jimmy up front and did fairly well, obviously well enough for us to finish 7th.

He looked lightweight when he first joined but found himself a position under McClaren playing off Nemeth and Maccarone (a fairly adventurous lineup really with Geremi, Jonny Greening and Boateng playing behind them). The following season including the cup final he managed to do a decent enough job as a lone striker at times, working really hard.

His Dad and other family members used to come and watch him and used to sit near me, at the end of one game when Job had scored his Dad was running up and down the concourse after full time (we were having a pint after) and he was singing one Job on Teesside (sounding strange to us because of the accent) and waving the Cameroon flag. It was brill!

I thought he did alright especially with all the star names in and around him. I wouldnt say he was under rated as such. He was a very useful sub and never let anyone down👍

He had a rather strange stature and playing style. That said he had a few tricks about him.

I actually think Nemeth was more under rated and gets less credit. I remember he looked class every time he came off the bench. He was never a regular but was a great impact player who gave me a 'buzz' when he came on👍

There is proof that there was more than one Job on Teesside :)

He was typical of many of the players Boro have had over the years, good but unappreciated.

Some fans have been spoilt by seeing the likes of Mendietta, Juninho, Ravanelli, Merson, Viduka, JFH etc. and believe that is our natural level. As a result, so many god players like Job, Ricard, Howson etc are seen as not to that level and damned while they are here. Its only after we appreciate them.

I remember there being a chap waving a Cameroon flag in the West Stand during the Christmas match where Job scored a late 3rd against Man U. I think he was wearing a Geremi shirt though, but he was very pleased to see a Cameroon player score, and I remember half the west stand cheering every wave of the flag after the Job goal.
