Jordan Rhodes to return?

We probably need 3 strikers. They aren't cheap and at least one of those if not two we'd like to be amongst the best in the division.

if Rhodes on a free for 3rd/4th choice allows us to go out and spend more money on better then it seems sensible to me.

there's also always the chance, however remote, he could do a Billy Sharpe and rediscover the scoring torch of his younger days. Like Sharpe he's probably better in a 2, something that's probably held him back given most sides prefer one up top these days.

In transfer fee, agents fees, or wages.

I could sort of see the logic as a free signing for a back-up striker, he's not great but he does occasionally make an impact off the bench, but not in this situation where we'd likely have to spend £1m+ and match his current wages.

I don't think he would be he's still got a year left on his contract....why wouldn't he fancy a crack at the Prem ??
I'm sure he would but like we had last time I'm sure Huddersfield would also have doubts about his ability to have a crack at the Prem. So they're probably likely to off load or send out on loan and his decision will come down to whether he wants game time or not.

Was thinking about this yesterday and I actually wouldn't be against the idea at all.

If Rhodes was given some of the chances that sporar, connolly and balogun had - I bet my life he'd have put more away than all of them.

He could be playing in the Premier League next season...why would he come here ?
If they go up, they'll let him go because he isn't going to play in the prem.

If they stay down, then parachute payments end and they need to reduce costs. I'd think he could be a prime candidate to be moved on as he isn't first choice, and due to his age he won't have any value moving forwards. They could give him a free to get him off the books

We are not going to blow our load, so to speak, on 3 different strikers. We need to look for cheap, budget squad player signings for some roles. If taking Rhodes on a free, on mediocre wages as 4th choice striker, allows us to bring in a gyokores, for example, I'd be all for it.

were unlikely to get a 15-20 goal CF, Wilder rotates his CFs so it's unlikely anyone will get enough game time to reach those figures.

What matters is how many goals we get as a team, and how many we keep out.

I suspect Coburn will be loaned out, he needs to up his game time and League Two with Hartlepool would be perfect for him.

So we've got 1 striker and we need another 3 or 4. Strikers are expensive, a free transfer, with bags of experience, knows the club and area, a model pro, knows the league and doesn't complain at being a sub would be ideal for one of those striker positions.

Rhodes in his latter years, has bulked out a bit, he's more of a physical presence than he used to be and his scoring isn't bad.

21/22 - 4 goals and 3 assists from just 6 starts and 17 sub appearances. A goal every 130 minutes
20/21 - 7 goals and an assist in 15 starts and 21 sub appearances. A goal every 210 minutes
19/21 - 3 goals in 7 starts and 9 sub appearances. A goal every 230minutess.
18/19 - 6 goals and 1 assist in 9 starts and 27 sub appearances. A goal every 160 minutes

Despite his scarce and scattered appearances, he still scores a goal every 2 to 2.5 games.

He isn't the answer to our goalscoring, issues bit he fits a wilder system in that he is a hard worker off the ball, and makes plenty of intelligent runs in possession, and he can finish.
Chris wilder had 3 strikers achieve 15 or more goals in his 2 season in the championship

Age shouldnt come into it if the player is good look at ronaldo & la liga where there is alot of players over the age of 30.

Play him to his abilities by peppering the box with chances and he’ll put them away, I’d have him back in a heartbeat
