Jordan Henderson

The only reason for Southgate picking him is stubbornness and arrogance. It's one of those decisions that is a bit worrying as it shows Southgate might be losing sight of the bigger picture. First sign that he might have been in the job too long.
He's been in job way too long now. Should of left after last world cup.
Keeps picking Henderson, for no other reason than to **** everyone off.

How on earth is He in the Squad of Ward Prowse? Good Skipper at Liverpool in his day, but what's to be learned from giving him a run out Against mighty Malta? Didn't even watch the game, totally disinterested in watching them, now they've qualified, only interested in watching them in Tournaments against decent opposition.

I haven’t joined the criticism of Henderson but he looked well off last night. He wasn’t the only one of course, but he surely can’t make the European Championship squad playing in a B League.

All the midfield was poor but Gallagher looked like he'd won a raffle to play. He couldn't pass water. Not surprising he got hooked at HT. Henderson looks finished. Rashford was virtually invisible. OK, England had qualified and this was half a reserve side but that didn't excuse a first shot on target after more than an hour and Pickford having more touches than the ten others.

I still feel England won't win a major tournament with Gareth in charge. I've never rated him as a manager going back to when he was here (loved him as a player though!). He has a really talented group of players available to him but he's consistently picking some players who are out of form or playing in the farmers league. I just don't understand it. Other big nations don't have teams with the quality they had years ago. On paper, if the correct players are picked, I would say we are stronger than any of them and have never had a better chance to win a major tournament.

With Southgate and his cautious approach, particularly against the big teams, I just can't see it happening. We have the potential to blow teams away but we're being held back.

Southgate has fallen into the same trap as previous England managers - having favourites and picking them regardless of form.

I'd love for a journalist to remind him that when he first got the job he'd said he would pick players based on form, and then ask him if that's still the case, then why are you selecting Henderson and Phillips ahead of Ward-Prowse.

when I think the times Boro players have been overlooked because they played in the old Div 2 or Championship and now England are picking players from a lower level league ...

No one really shone last night, except perhaps Palmer who was looking to make an impression. Lookedlike they were saving themselves for the real stuff to come with their clubs. Time to get Hackney in for the money grabbing Makem😉
