Jones

Great game today - lots of quality from the Boro way stronger than an average Cardiff side. Elephant in the room for me is Jones. Second week introduced as sub and absolutely no impact or contribution. Get Carrick is trying to build his confidence but bottom line is he is awful and is wasting a place on the bench. Offers nothing other than a three yard pass backwards. Got to be better options in training than Jones?

He has enormous potential, going through a sticky patch atm but I am sure he will be a big player in the future

There’s no denying that Jones is nowhere near the player he was last year and to have your place taken by a non specialized winger in Forss must be doubly hard to take.

Today he just looked very much like he is finding himself back where he was when we loaned him out. Some players respond positively to being benched but it’s clear that he’s perhaps thinking the opposite?

I think we all want a 2021-22 Isiah Jones but when he was flying all over the pitch for Wilder many of us suggested it might have been a flash on the pan. Let’s hope Akpom doesn’t follow in the same way!

Carrick said in the pre-match press conference that he had responded well to being left out, in fact he was very positive about him.

I find it amazing that every week people find a 'negative'. I mean we could win 5-0 and someone would post or phone in on the radio and moan.

He's low on confidence. So I'm sure posts like this will 'help'. You'd be mad to think they don't come on here. I imagine may even post using weird user names.

He's not the Jones of last season. I'd argue if he was he wouldn't be with us. Definitely has a part to play as we ain't stacked with RWB or RW cover.

when he burst on the scene, he was unknown and a surprisingly skilful and fast talent. Everybody knows him now and knows what to expect from him.

He's a victim of his own success - but this is just part of his development. He now needs to find new ways to have the same impact - I have every confidence that he'll find his way and pick up where he left off

Put him self about but struggled to make an impact at a time we were struggling to cope with a team fighting for their survival… didn’t do anything wrong but did get a bloodied nod for his efforts to keep us ahead… I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt and still think there is a good player in there…

He will definitely come good. Young players feed on confidence. It's not there right now. He needs time. There's a player there .

Oh get what you are saying, he looked like someone from the crowd had won a prize for a cameo appearance. His confidence has plummeted but also we have to stop pretending that two months where he did really well last year is the norm, what we are seeing may be the norm, and that two months was anomaly. At the moment he doesn’t deserve to be in the starting XI and maybe you are right not on the bench. If Ramsay and Muniz were fit then, yes it’s hard to argue with that
