Jones. Big game for him tonight

Big opportunity as well because eyes from Blackburn will be on stopping Giles crosses and jones has an opportunity to really run at them and cause the havoc we know he can.
Big game for him in terms of showing Carrick he is the man for his right hand side so I’m tipping him to have a big impact game tonight
He knows he needs it…

Was it there last season where he was hacked down about three times, one of them being a blatant penalty?

And Paddy had a mad swing and miss with his left peg leading to their goal?

Thankfully Carrick doesn’t have this attitude. It’s not a case of it’s a huge game for Jones to show what he’s about. Carrick already knows what he’s about hence why he’s started in every game.

Jones is playing an important part and he attracts opposition players to him due to his trickery and pace so even if he he just retains Possesion and helps the play get switched to the left for Giles he’s playing a big role as he is creating space for the best crosser in the league.

Can we stop putting so much pressure on Jones, I love the kid.

Agreed. Still a relatively short time since he burst onto the scene. Will add consistency to his game and become the player we all hope he would be. Good luck to the lad.

But a valid point is, surely teams will also suss out that a potent threat comes from the opposite side, from those superb crosses from Giles, great little problems we are causing teams.

Yeah and if that happens then you would imagine Jones will start getting space. As you say, we are a threat allover now and it’s great to see.

I didn’t use ‘huge’ you did.

What I’m trying to explain is no one player can truly relax. Look at Mcgree. Benched on Boxing Day and I think Carrick is looking for contributions (making an impact) from players, not every game but on a regular basis and as Giles attracts more attention it opens up an opportunity for jonesy to make that telling impact.
Carrick will be watching closely (like he is with everyone) at his impact players who can literally turn a game in our favour.
All teams need a variety of these types of players.
I named forss on Boxing Day as someone who needed a big performance and I fancied him for a goal and thought he knew he needed to remind Carrick what he can bring to the team.

I feel as though the same is true tonight for jonesy.

UTB and hoping for a win tonight but just have a hunch that it’s an important one for jonesy
