Jonathan-Woodgate

No thanks.

Boro were above the relegation zone on goal difference when Woodgate lost his job. If he could change one thing, he would have appointed an experienced adviser in the mould of former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp to work alongside existing staff that included Robbie Keane.

'Someone with 'grey hair' who has been and done it and understands what you are going through,' he says. 'I'd had coaching experience but that is different to being a manager.'

IMHO, Steve Gibson has made mistakes, as we all have, but appointing Woodgate was the worst one he made
We needed a more experienced manager to replace Pulis, but Woodgate biggest mistake was bringing in Robbie Keane, what did he do for the media say he'll make a top manager one day, which he wont
Woodgate had no one to turn to when things nosedived & results didn't improve & he was relieved of his duties

I do hope he gets back in to management & see if he can actually practise what he preaches with his attacking phylophacy

The article says he can speak Spanish. I've searched you tube and can't find one interview from him in Spanish?
One would have to assume he learnt some Spanish whilst in Madrid..

He does speak Spanish well. Puts some to shame who’ve lived in Spain for years and made no effort to learn.

It was Gibson's fault, he sanctioned the appointment, a big mistake as Erimus articulated earlier, everyone could see it was wrong and so it proved.
We have moved on though and under Warnock we are in very good shape

Gibson has made bigger managerial mistakes, appointing Southgate when we were riding on the back of the europa cup wave and entrusting Steve Agnew to keep us up were much bigger IMHO when you consider what it cost us.

As with Woodgate I can’t remember many fans on here or at the match who agreed with any of them at the time either.

Agree with all that, though I did agree with his appointmant at the time, I went on record he on here at the time, as saying such, probably down to me been naive when listening to his press interview when he was talking about high pressing, attacking football

I still say his mistake with saying that, what he should have said, 'Im hoping to build my team around high pressing, attacking football', because at that time we didnt have the players to play in the system he wanted to play

You are far from being the only one.

Plenty of people on here lapped up that press conference, I was very surprised.
