Jon Obi Mikel Going To Stoke

I read the other day he was looking for a club - tidy player - but probably past his best.

Hopefully our signings will start arriving soon!

Am I the only one wondering where Stoke are getting all their cash from? They seem to have been splashing cash over the last few years on transfer fees and wages, not sure how they are keeping within FFP rules (I know it's over a 3 year period but even so). Even this season they are signing up experienced players that won't be on tiny wages.

Unless the plan is, like others have done (QPR, Bournemouth Villa etc) stuff the FFP regulations and hope they can get into the Premier League before they are made accountable.

Surely they can’t have too long left before they have to do a massive wage purge to comply with ffp. Can’t remember them selling anyone of value recently and they still have a few players held over from their premier league days. Isn’t this their last year of parachute payments? Their squad should be the envy of half the league but every time I’ve seen them play the last few years half the team has looked like they don’t care or don’t want to be there.

I doubt any of the free transfers are cheap in terms of wages. They have come for decent contacts and a few of them at an age where its a last move (never good as nothing to prove).

JOM looked ok in flashes. I just don't think he added anything to an already plodding / side ways passing CM. We already had 2-3 like him.

You look at that Stoke squad and they have plenty of 'names' and clearly well under punching.

Just like Barca 🤣🤣

Couldn't believe Barca. They have 10+ players over 30 (saw the list last night and many 32/33/34).

No rotation of youth from the last few managers. They are gonna need some refresh. Good luck with that😂

jacob Murphy also rumoured to be heading for Stoke too. They have certainly committed funds to overhauling their squad.

The only teams in the Champo with any money are those with parachute payments relegated in the last 2-3 years....they will be able to offer decent wages and 2 year contracts. Everyone else over a certain age will only get a year...

The video that they released showing all of his touches from his first game was probably boros lowest moment since Woody's bird.

Controls ball and plays five yard pass "it's like he's reinvented the art of the midfielder!"
Launches ball in the general direction of hughil "incredible vision!" gobs on the floor "Clayton couldn't do that".

I agree the Mikel love in from our fans was over the top. At the time improvements were far more urgent in other positions and signing a player (albeit a good one) who never scores on a short term contract was quite odd.
