UK says report on PM Johnson trip to Italy is 'completely untrue'
LONDON (Reuters) - Britain denied on Monday a newspaper report that Prime Minister Boris Johnson went to Italy last weekend, saying he had not travelled to the country in recent months.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica said Johnson was seen in Perugia from Sept. 11 to 14, citing a statement from the city’s airport. It reported that he had travelled there to baptise his young son Wilfred.
“This story is completely untrue,” a spokesman for Johnson’s Downing Street office said. “The prime minister has not travelled to Italy in recent months. Anyone who publishes these claims is repeating a falsehood.”
Earlier, British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps also said the report was wrong.
“As I understand it, it is completely untrue. I double checked this morning and it is an erroneous story.”

They're not denying the story, though, they're reporting British denials. Which as we know is not the same thing. At all.

Saw an article last night from an Italian publication stating the same thing.
Was there last year too, reported in the guardian he had gone to a party.

Is Italy on the quarantine list?

Mr Gnome is correct, Grant Scapps saying “As I understand it“ is like saying ‘to the best of my knowledge’ or ‘from what I gather’ etc, they are totally meaningless comment that are not denials, they offer a get out if any evidence is subsequently provided. Has anyone seen Boris lately, is he isolating?

I remember (not entirely 100%) but during the turbulence after Mr Blair's unwise intervention on Bush's part to go and play soldiers in Iraq there were reports of a report which they denied existed. They sent out the Home Secretary to say, on the record, that he'd seen no such report. I did think that odd, why should the Home Secretary do the lying when there were other more appropriate ministers to take the strain. Then it dawned. He was telling the truth. The Home Secretary was David Blunkett. I was amazed nobody picked up on that. If anybody can find it I'd like to see it again .....

If Dominic Cummins was navigating, its doubtful the Prime Minister would know where he was going - so its plausible that Boris was lead astray? (Italy?)

If it turns out he's lied again then..... actually nothing will happen, its part of his lovely persona, and he got brexit done dont you know

If he's lying Starmer will have his guts (again) at PMQ, he'll then come out with insults and a corny lawyer joke that's only funny in his head, then nothing will happen.

" Is Italy on the quarantine list? "

No and it had better not be either till after Monday next week!!
