The important thing is that these "Emergency Powers" are removed once we are properly out of this pandemic. I wouldn't trust Johnson to tell me the colour of my lawn without checking but let's just stick to the path laid out. I think it is a reasonably cautious set of steps.

Once that is done the reckoning must come with the performance of this Government properly judged against its actions from the beginning of the pandemic to its end. Judgement on money wasted on PPE, lives lost due to inaction and complacency, a hugely costly and ineffective track and trace program, economic damage done through ill judged and timed lockdowns. Everything that has been done, where the money has gone, cronyism, deceit and corruption. All laid out and blame apportioned.

The lesson must be, never trust a Tory.

You're not wrong mutley but Johnson is clearly bolstering the lockdown effect and playing down vaccinations. If vaccinations are working he loses his emergency powers, due to end in June as I recall. He will want to convince us all we're not out of the woods yet and renew those powers for a further 6 months to remove scrutiny from the public purse. He will do that by convincing the public that we need protecting next winter the same as this winter.

He's not even trying to conceal that's what he is doing.

He's the worst kind of crook, a dangerous one.

Possibly. But he can only avoid scrutiny for so long eventually this will end and he will be judged for the failure he is. The converse view is that if he is denied this it will become an excuse for his failure.

Maybe Mutley. For my part I would just as soon we didn't play along. If there is a full public enquiry, and it's difficult to see how that can be avoided. I suspect it will wait until the tories can delay publication until after the next election.

So if he's claiming credit for the last lockdown working, I assume he'll also take responsibility for the disgraceful tardiness of the first one, which resulted in tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths, and resign, yes?
 
When you put draconian restrictions on people's lives you have to keep claiming credit for them lest the average man think hang on a minute I want to take my pitchfork and march to that leaders house.

This game will go on as long as people believe the message. It's easier to fool people than it is to convince them they've been fooled.

The Great Reset with vaccine passports, digital ID’s and social credit systems is what most people haven't quite got yet, this is all planned and is no conspiracy, I've mentioned it before here and had no response and I note you hadn't got a response either. Interesting that some people really believe this is entirely about a virus now.
Our lives will never be the same again unless as you say we put up a fight.
 
Cognitive dissonance is a powerful psychological part of human nature. For a lot of people to even consider that this road to hell is paved with good intentions breaks their view of reality so much that the brain just says 'nope'.
