Now we’ve bought some questionable players in the past and god knows we’ve wasted enough cash on them... but nothing comes close to this turkey

if you don’t know the Geordies spent £40 million yes 40 million on this plum and he has so far scored a grand total of 1 goal in the premier and a grand total of 3 goals in total.

But he has no pedigree that’s the mystery and his international record is 4 caps for Brazil u 17 only.

Now at youth level they give out Brazil caps like confetti so to only get 4 is pretty poor.

40million though that’s over 3 time the price we spent on alves but at least he had pedigree.

Newcastle in general have a terrible squad. Watching them against Sheff Utd the only difference between quite a lot of them and good League Two level players is pure luck, having a great game when the right scout was there or whatever. That could be applied to at least 6 or 7 of their starters.

To be fair the mags use him to hammer Bruce yet he was signed by whoever was in charge (either Rafa or bought by recruitment team).

He's absolutely awful. To be honest most clubs 'have one' and you wonder how you can get recruitment so badly wrong. He came at the same time as Haller at West ham and Wesley at Villa and all 3 were pretty awful and about the same price.

If you want a proper spud then look no further than Bolasie. 70-80k a week for 4 years played 23 times with 2 goals👏.

To be fair the mags did well with Wilson. I was stunned a better side like Everton / Spuds or Leicester didn't go for him.

I’d say the squad is fairly decent. A good manager could do a lot with that squad.

You might have seen more of them than me but from the little I’ve seen I’d say Callum Wilson is their only good player.
They’d never finish top half even with the best manager in the world.

Not sure about that. Watched some of the Arsenal game. Andy Carrol is finished wouldn't be getting a game anywhere else. Almeiron shows occasional flashes of something and Wilson is a good buy. Shelvey looks out of form and the rest are Championship level. If they go down there won't be much of a rush to snap up bargains.

With a good manager I think they would finish top half.

I think it’s a woefully put together squad to be honest. Wilson and Saint Maximin are good players but rest of there squad is pretty average to be honest. Couldn’t see anyone finishing top half with them players

I'd forgotten about "Sam Maximam" is he still suffering from his COVID infection?

I’d disagree, I’d say a good manager could get a fair few of their squad playing well.

A good manager should be able to put a decent first 11 out of the following:

Dubravka, Darlow

Yedlin, Lascelles, Schar, Lewis.

Fraser, both Longstaffs,
Shelvey, Saint-Maxim

Wilson, Almeron,

Still plenty decent enough squad players left over:

Willems, Fernandez, Krafth, Clark, Dummett, Hayden, Ritchie, Murphy.

Yeah , think he may be nearly back now from what I was reading the other day. Think he was suffering with long covid. He’s an exciting player but without him they show absolutely no attacking intent. They are a poor watch

that isn’t a top half premier league squad mate. The longstaffs are *****, Newcastle fans don’t rate them. Shelvey is half arsed. Dubrakva is a good keeper and Wilson and Saint maximin are decent but other than that your talking lower premier league for sure

I’d say both the keepers are decent enough.

Lewis looked one for the future last season.

Schar was playing well a season or two ago, think he was linked with Liverpool couple weeks ago, obvs not sure how true that was.

Lascelles is solid enough. Obviously been suffering with covid this season.

Sean Longstaff looked brilliant when he broke through. Matty Longstaff looked decent enough, was heavily linked with a move to Udinese in the summer (probs would have just ended up at Watford 6 months later mind).

Everyone has seen what Fraser can do on his day, obviously hasn’t played too much last couple of seasons due to injury and contract stuff at B’Muff.

Hendrick, solid enough and bit of quality.

Add that to S.Maxim and Wilson.

We’ve seen for ourselves how a good manager can come in and improve almost every player, some make slight improvements, others make huge improvements.

Hendrick was at Burnley. He’s alright yeah, standard low half premier league player. The longstaffs have regressed since getting new contracts. Again Schar and Lascelles is decent but would they get in any top 10 team?? I don’t think they would.

One goal every 18 games for the Mags.
