Hardly one for the ‘new music’ thread.

Hated them at first (because my elder brother was into them) but found them again early 80’s
Frequently listen to them now too (when my partner isn’t in) 😂
Just had ‘Thick as a Brick’ on - great album

Went to see them in Middlesbrough in the mid 90s when they released the very good Roots to Branches album.
They sounded great but Anderson's voice was shot and you could barely hear him.
Very intelligent and funny guy though.
My favourite story is when they won the grammy for best hard rock album with Crest of a Knave.
They didn't turn up because everyone thought Metallica were dead certs for the black album.
When Tull won the crowd booed and Metallica stormed out. Lars still goes on about it today.
To rub salt in the wound Tull's label put this Ad in music magazines:

They were exceptionally good live back in the day - very quirky band with some absolute belters from their early stuff. Ian used to have a trout farm 😃

Mark Knopler once said Crest of the Knave was the best album Dire Straits never made.

It certainly had that sort of vibe about it. Very 80s sound with some great Martin Barre riffs.
