Neil Warnock is interested in West Brom's Polish winger Kamil Grosicki

NEIL WARNOCK is assessing possible deals for Kamil Grosicki and Yannick Bolasie as he ponders his plans for the January transfer window.
The Middlesbrough manager remains keen to sign free agent Duncan Watmore on a short-term basis, and is set to offer the former Sunderland winger a contract to the end of the year at the end of the forthcoming international break.
However, he will look to put some longer-term plans in place when the transfer window reopens at the start of January with Grosicki and Bolasie both currently featuring on his list of potential transfer options.

Grosicki will almost certainly leave West Brom at the turn of the year as he does not form part of Slaven Bilic’s first-team plans at the Hawthorns.
The former Hull City midfielder almost joined Nottingham Forest on transfer-deadline day at the start of last month, only for a proposed move to the City Ground to collapse at the last minute.
Forest boss Chris Hughton will make a new move in January, but Warnock is set to provide competition for Grosicki’s signature as he looks to add some attacking creativity to his Middlesbrough squad.

Grosicki is due to become a free agent at the end of the season, and is understood to be keen to reignite his career in the second half of the campaign away from West Brom rather than remain with the Baggies with little chance of any senior involvement.

Bolasie is similarly determined to secure new employers in January, having watched a proposed move to Middlesbrough collapse in the final hour of the transfer window.
The winger thought he had secured a season-long loan move to Teesside, only for talks to break down before a deal could be completed.
He is back with Everton at the moment, although there is no chance of him featuring in the next two months as he was omitted from the 25-man squad list Carlo Ancelotti submitted to the Premier League.

Warnock will consider rekindling his interest at the start of next year, although the complications that led to the collapse of last month’s proposed deal will have to be ironed out before a new round of talks were to begin.

“I don’t know (why the deal collapsed) – it was just an error on all sides,” said Bolasie. “What I can say is that I did everything in my corner to make sure I played games at Middlesbrough.”

Yannick Bolasie claims he phoned Neil Warnock to try and get Middlesbrough transfer

Yannick Bolasie has spoken out on his failed move to Middlesbrough last month, echoing Neil Warnock's view that there were mistakes on both sides contributing to the transfer collapsing.

Boro negotiated a loan deal with Everton throughout transfer deadline day in October, with Warnock desperate to bolster his attacking options amid Ashley Fletcher's long-term injury.

But speaking after the move collapsed, the Boro boss said that mistakes from all parties - including Bolasie himself - resulted in the deal collapsing as time ran out and the transfer window closed. Although he wouldn't elaborate, Warnock said that Bolasie, or his agent, had not made Boro aware of details that would have sped up the negotiation process.

But in a new interview with The Athletic, Bolasie insists he did everything he could.

The Everton forward told the Athletic: "I know the manager and called him myself because I didn’t want to be here picking my nose.

“It would have been a good fit because I knew the manager and some of the players. I know what Neil has done in the past with the likes of myself and Adel Taarabt.

“I don’t know [why it fell through], it was just an error on all sides.

“What I can say is that I did everything in my corner to make sure I played games at Middlesbrough.”

With the move no more, Bolasie vowed to focus on Everton to work his way back into manager Carlo Ancelotti's plans.

However, days later he was not included in their 25-man Premier League squad, leaving him in limbo until the January transfer window opens.

It's unknown if Boro will make another move when the transfer window opens in the new year, with Duncan Watmore currently on trial at the club and Warnock hoping to offer him a deal. Meanwhile, reports this week have also credited Boro with interest in West Brom winger Kamil Grosicki who they were also interested in last summer.

Imagine if we tied to sign Bolasie and it fell through at the 11th hour for a 3rd time. I think this board would explode.

Where have we got the money from to potentially buy these two ? Unless we try and sell some players ?
I gather we can scoop them up for next to nothing.[Based on various platforms].

Neither Managers have any room for them in their plans, so will be happy to say bye bye.

If Bolasie says he knows Neil and actually phoned Neil to tell him he wants to play for him - I reckon he means it!

Seems like he doesnt want to rot away and [hopefully] - [assumption alert....] he will be content to take a pay cut to play for the Boro!

Likewise, the ex Hull lad - who appeared to have such a promising future - is wasting away.

It doesnt mean they are average or plain crap - or have attitude like Jones and Morrison [Rav] - Neil Warnock must believe he can coach them into shape to fit his team.

He could reignite Vesuvius if the flame went out, given half a chance!

Well I for one doubt we were signing Bolasie on loan, if we were, funds must have been there, all of a sudden we are struggling to sign Whatmore till January, it doesn’t add up for me. Now that is not a criticism of anyone before it is suggested its a veiled dig. If we haven’t the funds we haven’t. Assuming this is somewhere in the ball park, then realistically signing Bolasie and Grosicki would seem a distant dream (or nightmare depending on your view)

The northern echo just 'guessing' that were interested in 2 players due to previous links to fill newspaper columns

If we sign Watmore its pretty obvious we won't be signing any more wingers due to finance, still amazes me how people attach creedance to newspaper articles, the gazette, the echo, just taking stabs in the dark, its the internet age, fans are aware of players signing long before newspapers these days

Maybe we are reluctant to sign out of contract players right now because we need the money for specific targets in January.

Would be two decent signings if they did come off Warnock would get the best out of them you would hope

I think, with Watmore, we'll wait until the end of the international break to sign him, to save a few weeks salary.

Could the money saved from not signing Bolasie on deadline day = Bolasie and Grosicki in January? (if we are genuinely interested)

They are both on fortunes. I don't believe we will again spend weeks trying to get them and fail because the financial package is too much.

I don't even rate Bolasie. His end product is woeful.

If we are going to blow the budget on a loan signing it has to be an actual CF? We seem pretty stocked with wide players who don't score.

We must be pretty skint if we are struggling to sign Watmore. We are holding off signing him until after the break to save 2 weeks wages😂

Would you pay for a plumber to come in for two weeks before your new bathroom suite arrived for him to fit?

Theres 110% absolutely no - chance of Middlesbrough Football Club [aka Neil Warnock] "blowing" bubbles - let alone "blow the budget".

Football - like real life - is not all about money.
And money doesnt [always] buy you love or happiness or a place in the starting eleven or even a number on the back of your shirt.

But the right words at the right time ,in the ears of footballers down on their luck, will convince them its worth dying for Neil Warnock.

He manages men - not money or agents.
In many ways hes like Cloughie - if he doesnt like what he sees - he moves on to the next one, and the next - until he gets players begging to come to the Boro.

You can bet your Dads best golf clubs - Neil will know what he wants from them - and he wont hold back telling them either!

If Neil Warnock was an officer in the army - hes the sort your ordinary soldier would follow to the end of the earth.
He leads by example from the front.
He commands respect by results and sheer determination.

He calls a spade a spade.
Hes no quitter and wouldnt ask of others what he hasnt already done before or isnt prepared to do now.
Hes sharp, blunt and a bullschitt - free zone.

Never mind who we "rate".
Hes the gaffa and I rate him.
Thats good enough for me.

Surely a priority is an actual CF? It's probably the one area we are short. We have a variety of wide players or players who could fill that role.

Britt can't hit a barn door and Fletcher is crocked. Also thinking longterm both Britt and Fletcher could leave for nothing in the summer or for a nominal fee in Jan. It's an erea we need to look at both short term (loan) and longterm.

Hopefully Brit will see out his time or his agent point out that we have no money - so if a club come in with a reasonable offer of a decent salary - the agent will [hopefully] advise him to take it and Boro can take the transfer fee.
Listening to the noises out of the club - they wont be offering any more money [maybe less?].
It may be in both our interests for him to move on when the time comes?
I certainly hope so.
Hes consistently inconsistent and not worth what we paid for him.

We best start negotiating now. We may just get them over the like by the 31st of Jan😂

Jokes aside we must have some money knocking about if we want either or both.
