January can’t come soon enough

We just have a lack of quality that shines through. We’ve played some fantastic football tonight but just lacked that little extra required to put the ball in the net.

I’d send Hernandez back too, he has about ten chances to play someone in, does five step overs and the chance has gone.

Someone to play off Sporar would be great and another quality midfielder would be good too. Obviously we need cover at wing back as well.

Not sure we need to buy any centre backs as I think Dijksteel and Taylor could both play there in the Wilder system. Wouldn't be surprised to see our back 3 lineup with Dijksteel, Fry and McNair or Dijksteel, Hall and Fry with McNair stepping into midfield.

Looking clear that quite a few of these players just wont be able to play this system, CB/Striker/Keeper a minimum in January

We have fundamental problems throughout the team and a total lack of confidence to play basic football.

It's going to be a long season.

We do and can play really top level championship promotion football. The way we passed the ball at end of the 1st half Preston were hanging on. But we get too over confident don't grasp the opportunity then like make blunders that the opposition punish us time and time again. It's soul destroying.

We don’t kill teams off. And we aren’t strong enough to hold onto leads. It’s a vicious circle really as one feeds into the other and we put ourselves/our defence under unnecessary pressure by not taking chances. But I did really enjoy the football we played tonight for the most part.

Hernandez, though. It’s such a waste of time to go back and beat your man again and again. By the time he’s faffed about the opposition are back in their shape and the moments has gone or he someone nips in and takes it off him. I think the manager has to have a word with him about it as it must be incredibly annoying to be making runs only to not get the cross.

Agree with all of this and I'm not a fan of the constant dilly dally but if he can make better decisions I think he'll be really good for us. Certainly a threat

I’m sick of seeing him beat a man and rather than doing something, going back and beating the same man again - repeat about 4-5 times before picking out nobody.

Are we still living under austerity measures though?
Fully understandable that we have tightened our belts but surely we can't tighten any more?
We'll end up with a strangulated intestineo_O

I think we can invest some in January, but it's next summer when we really move forward as another year of the Monk years disappears out of the P&S 4 year window. Same for the next couple of years.

Mate, without a proper holding midfielder a team will always be fragile - Without one the game is far too open & can change in a flash, as it did tonight!
Completely agree, but Morsy wasn’t a proper holding midfielder. He was an top half League 1 midfielder who won 30% of his tackles and often got overran and had to foul. Conned half of our fans, that’s why he’s gone.
