Middlesbrough are set to enter the race for St Mirren star Jamie McGrath.
The Ireland squad man has been targeted by several clubs this summer, including Sheffield United, Watford and Aberdeen.
McGrath is in the final year of his deal with the Buddies but they have so far rejected all bids for the 24-year-old.
Boro boss Neil Warnock has been tracking the ex-Dundalk midfielder, who scored 17 goals last season.
And he’s now ready to come in with a bid before Tuesday’s deadline in an attempt to prise him away from Paisley

Is Jake Bidwell completely off the table? Was he to be signed more as a left midfielder? Is Ciaron Brown really gonna leave Cardiff on a free? Oliver Burke.. I thought he was a right winger? Lots of players that we've been linked with but I doubt that we were ever in for.. lots of movement still a possibility.
You could drop two wingers and two strikers into the mix without batting an eyelid. Back up for Bola at left back, a left sided central defender? a left sided midfielder! 2 or 3 could easily be 7 by the time the window closes.
Got some pretty big numbers to fill with Marvin Johnson and Britt Assombalonga!
If there was a change behind the scenes influenced by the future DOF it would seem a skew from Warnock's french players as his little bit extra.. his 'french fancies' so to speak.. to more of a German vibe which was joked about after the announcement of Kieran Scott.
