Jacinda Ardern - Resigns

Yes, lucky with Jacinda here, she is very good. Had a lot to cope with and has done really well, CHCH shootings, White Island and now this.
Has suffered a bit from national policies not working out, not building as many affordable homes as they first said and other things, but a lot of that is down to 9 years of National Party not investing in public infrastructure and relying on private income and insurance. You cant fix 9 years lack of Investments in 3.
Sound familiar?

Glad you are having a better experience of a female prime minister. Compared with the decimated north east that ours caused when I was young.

She was in part responsible for my dad trying to take his own life. Bi-polar and could not cope mentally without work.

Yes, remember it well. Left school in 84, my mates all went on YTS which was basically builders getting the government to pay for cheap labour. I ended up doing 3 years T Prior Pursglove (O levels again then A levels) before having a 10 month 'rest' and finally finding a job in an opticians in Middlesbrough. Wasn't me and ended up joining the RAF.

Sound like I am a bit older. Left for uni in London in 1977. Will forever be in debt to my parents for giving me the chance. One generation on and how privileged are so many of us. From poor beginnings. So much harder for youngsters these days.

Each to their own.
I've always found her full of platitudes.
She has been hamstrung by the coalition with NZ first on wanting go be more radical in some things.
For instance Labour wanted to bring in a capital gains tax.we are the only 'Western' nation without one. There was uproar, despite it being a sensible option and a lot of businesses would be exempt. The picky was dropped and probably will never be raised again.
I wouldn't be surprised if National got in this September with a very slim majority.

I think her honesty and clear messaging rather than the sophism we get from our leadership is refreshing. That Post article highlights the decisive action they took quickly has reaped dividends whereas this Government dithering around with the thoughts of “herd immunity“ for a couple of weeks is now telling on the rise in deaths.

There is now light at the end of the tunnel here, and they are talking about how we are going to drop down to level 3.
However, we are going to be physically shut off from the rest of the world for the next 6 months I would say. Anybody coming in to NZ will be quarantined for 14 days in hotels or hostels, the majority of our air freight normally comes and goes on passenger planes. The govt have said that they will subsidise Air NZ for the next 6 months to put on freighters to Oz, China and the States, which is where my 6 months at least guess comes from.
