It's not easy sacking a bloke

It's gut wrenching , horrible, the last thing you want to do.

Why do people think it is easy .

I am sure those on here asking for ABC to be sacked have never had to do it , or ever been sacked.

Another example of simple thinking football fans .

Can we stop trying to compare football to the Everyday world because it isn’t.

for instance no multi million blue chip company would appoint the mail boy as their new CEO simply Because they were local or they were popular in the office.

Basically you are against staff being promoted then, or envious of their wealth .

Should he go, yes I think he should, would I like to do it, no.

He is also in a "profession" where contract termination is pretty normal, and negotiated for at the outset.

I know money isn't everything but he will almost certainly be compensated, and compensated well.

Look at Ranieri. Hasn't he made almost as much out of contract terminations as actual salaries?

In my experience, people who are obviously not up for the job and have a tiny bit of self awareness tend to walk when they sit down with you and chat about their performance - a mutual parting of the ways.

No, read again. This man, this multi millionaire may well be responsible for the loss of jobs for cleaners, catering and bar staff etc who need their wages to make ends meets. The latter bother me, not the former. I bring up the wealth issue not out of envy, merely making the point that Woodgate will not go without should he lose his job.

Will he not though? I know it was a facetious remark about £20 notes but you assume because someone was well paid in a career that, lest we forget, is extremely short they have money now?

Footballers famously, in their younger days, are usually profligate with their salaries. No reason to assume they have saved and invested wisely.

I have dismissed several people over the years, usually for failing to perform to the required standards or in my protecting a businesses assets or for employee misconduct. It really is not difficult at all, as usually it is down to the employee falling below relevant thresholds. In the first 12 months of employment you don’t need much of a reason to sack somebody anyway these days. Most employers are not a charity case for carrying passengers.

If Woodgate were sacked I suspect a settlement will possibly already be within his contract or he be placed on gardening leave until paid up till contract expires. Unlikely be a lump sum in one go. Mr Woodgates position should not be confused with the ordinary man in the street in any event. I do not think it will happen though

I agree, but in Football management its a given and they accept it. I think thats why the bile and hatred is expressed by some fans because it has a element of envy, its a bit detached speaking about it and anonymous in its delivery.

Lets face it, its always seen as a easy well paid job, but most on here would wilt if they had to speak in front of footballers and the harassment and way people act toward them ....makes you wonder is it worth doing.

If you do well everybody loves you and wants to meet you, lose games and they want you out:)

Coluka, you are a lot harder than me, I have also had to sack a lot of people , never for poor performance though, maybe management were at fault.

I despised doing every one, ok excluding the odd tea leaf who deserved it I cared nothing for but the rest including senior managers I had too many sleepless nights

Then if that's the case and they can't manage their huge signing on fees and huge weekly wages, it's no one's felt but their own. Whether that should preclude them for losing yet another well paid job is neither here nor there.

Even from this year alone he'll be pretty well off I'd have thought! At least until he gets round to downsizing his house etc.:)

Its totally different to your average sacking in the workplace. These fellas take the job knowing that the sack is always just 6 results away.
