Its not a derby.

So, I've been seeing loads of Geordies and Mackems claiming that Boro are irrelevant and not a derby fixture. They're idiots in short.

Middlesbrough to Newcastle 45.3 Miles
Middlesbrough to Sunderland 33.1 miles

Let's compare to other rivalries/derbies shall we

Sheffield United/Wednesday vs Leeds. 39.9 Miles (Yorkshire Derby)
Swansea vs Cardiff 44.4 Miles (Welsh Derby)
Norwich vs Ipswich 56 Miles (East Anglian Derby)
Cardiff vs Bristol City 44.6 Miles (Severnside Derby)

I'm sure there's more but I've got a headache from doing an all nighters for the wrestling last night so can't be bothered!

I just find it hilarious how they try so hard to discourage us because they claim they're to far to be a derby, but they seem to up the anti whenever they play us and those 4 rivalries above are around the same distances as ours to them!

Embarassing

Sunderland to Newcastle 12 miles THE Derby
Middlesbrough-Sunderland mini Derby
You lot are worse than the kids on RTG
How on earth can it be a mini derby when those listed above are a bigger distance than ours 😄 I get Sunderland is closer but teams tend to have more than one derby!
Look at the London clubs!

The Boro game will always be insignificant in comparison to Newcastle just get over it

They do spend a lot of time and effort telling everybody that we're irrelevant to them .. they'll make twitter posts about how irrelevant we are, write 2000 word articles explaining just how and why we're irrelevant to them and they'll make countless posts on their forums telling each other that we're irrelevant to them and will try and out do each other when it comes to who thinks we're more irrelevant.

The cynic would say we annoy them because we've had some success in this lifetime and they just don't want to acknowledge that the "irrelevant" neighbours down the A19 matter to them.

Maybe they’re right. Sunderland have been in league one so long it doesn’t really have that connection anymore. Glad to see them doing well. Newcastle are the same really, we’ve been out of the prem for such a long time snd even when we were there they didn’t challenge for anything.

Folks used to scrap over jobs and stuff back in the day.. nothing really there now.

If either team wins anything then things might perk up.. can’t see it like.

It wasn't a derby. It was their FA Cup Final, just look at the size of the crowd, and how much both their fans and the team were up for it.

And it appears to have been too much for them, they shot their lot over one game.
Oh do behave both Blackburn and Stoke have drawn bigger crowds this season, you got played off the park in your cup final yet still refuse to acknowledge it, I do find it amusing how much it still rankles despite how well your doing 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💋💋💋💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

They’re our nearest neighbours. We’re not theirs. The essential feature of being a main local rival. So they’re ours and we’re not theirs. It’s just a fact of geography. We don’t have to wet our pants about it like five year olds.

A Boxing Day match drew a marginally bigger crowd than a televised 12pm Sunday match?

Mental!

Nice to see you've calmed down after your latest defeat and are able to post again.
