Its Labour's fault we have the highest tax burden since WW2

I think the approach is to blame Labour because they keep voting against the government. Sadly, people are so dense that they won't even remember that the torys have an 80 seat (albeit reducing) majority.
 
well that was interesting. Seeley told lie after lie. The tories have grown the economy 23% (I think thats what he said). The economy in real terms has shrunk 9% since 2010. This doesn't account for a growth in population either.

When talking about what they have achieved he mentioned bringing down inflation. Thats the remit of the bank of england, not government. He also never mentioned 30 odd days of truss which contributed to inflation at the highest level for decades.

It's quite frustrating listening to him and whilst I like Victoria derbyshire she should have challenged him on multiple incorrect statements he made, over and above the tax burden.

Did he mention crime is down 50%?
 
Oldest population ever and getting older makes quite a difference - think - health spending, social care spending, think state pensions (which have increased more than inflation), no National Insurance contributions from over 65s. Lots of people suffering from Long Covid unable to work.
Also school leaving age has increased from 14 to 18 since the end of WW2 and increased numbers in higher education. Our society has changed a lot since 1945.
