BBC Radio 5 Live drops classified football results

The traditional reading out of the football results at 5pm on a Saturday is axed by BBC Radio.

Its old school like us who will miss it. The kids wont. It was part of the fabric of our Saturday afternoons and am very sad it is going.

Not helped by so many games not kicking off at 3pm anymore (and of course the sad passing of JAG)

Anyone remember running like crazy after the match to get to the Co-op or Uptons and stand in front of the windows for the results? If we were near the top of the table there was great excitement and cheering. Not many people had radios at the match those times. Happy days.

I fell foul of this on Saturday

I was at another game, we were following the premier league and some other scores on our phones (I was most annoyed with what was going on at Loftus Rd) whilst we was in the ground but got back to the car expecting the results in full. To be told by Chappers at 5pm to go to the BBC website for the results and then we had to listen to a series of premier league match reports and selected manager interviews instead. It completely ignores the pyramid below.

Think they’ve misread the room on this one TBH. Kinda goes deeper than just the premier league.
