Italy v England at the San Siro

A few years ago this would have been a huge deal as it’s one of the top international fixtures at an iconic venue but now hardly a mention. Esp on the eve of a would cup as well

It shows how down graded international football is becoming.

I think the media have been distracted by other things this year.

Sport is tucked away on the BBC website lately, you've often got to deliberately seek it out to find the coverage.

The fact it's a tertiary competition won't help, of course.

True but it’s also a rematch of the euro final and with Italy not making Qatar this year this is Italy World Cup. They’ll be going all out to show what Qatar is missing.

Would be getting more attention if it were the warm up games that are usually part of the WC / Euros build-up, it feels weird that these are our 'warm up' games but there's still well over a month to go before the tournament starts.

I've always enjoyed international football more than club football, & PL money divide has ruined competitiveness of club football, that international football hasn't succumbed to yet: it is still competitive.

Despite where we are, ATM, the Championship is, imho, by far the most competitive competition, as we're showing any team can be promoted or relegated.

Would have gone to it, it’s an incredible stadium but definitely put off by the knuckle draggers that follow England around. A game like this will bring them all out

My son and his mates have got tickets in the home end as couldn't get tickets in the away end. Its their first england away game. Fingers crossed they get through in one piece.

Hope your son enjoys it BB. It's a great way to spend your weekend, in Milan, nice weather, a bit of footie and a laugh with your mates.

Nonsense man. They are glorified friendlies, that’s why theres no fuss about them.
I have never known hysteria around football in this country like we enjoyed during England’s last two successful tournaments, much bigger than anything involving any league club. It was absolute bedlam. It will be again if England do well in Qatar.

I keep forgetting this. How on earth do they keep making a habit of not qualifying for these things?! Quality of that team is absurd.
