Italy on eve of electing first fascist govt since WW2

Indeed, remember who is telling you that it will be a fascist regime, the British tabloids mainly..
She certainly seems less a RW nutter than Silvio & Salvini..
No she runs the party known as the fascist party

Meloni’s party, which has neo-fascist origins, is also poised to scoop by far the biggest share of the votes within the coalition, which includes the far-right League, led by Matteo Salvini, and Forza Italia, headed by Silvio Berlusconi.

Look at the parties motto.

Why would they be Fascists?
Because that is literally the name of the party ( or was)

Brothers of Italy emerged from a right-wing split within Silvio Berlusconi's party, The People of Freedom (PdL), in December 2012.[18] The bulk of the party leadership (including Meloni), as well as the symbol of the movement (the tricolour flame),[19] comes from the National Alliance (AN, 1995–2009) party, which had merged into PdL in 2009.[20] AN was the heir to the Italian Social Movement(MSI, 1945–1995), a neo-fascist party founded by former members of the banned National Fascist Party (1921–1943) and the Republican Fascist Party (1943–1945).[21][22][23]

I dont know, and know little about Italian politics, so I ask is the party Fascist now?

Is there a far-right upsurge in Europe?
The vote in Italy hasn't been officially called, but there appears to be no doubt that Georgia Meloni, a former apologist for Italy’s fascist dictator Benito Mussolini and her nostalgic nationalist Brothers of Italy party stormed to election victory on Sunday.
Overnight, they’ve gone from political obscurity to Italy’s biggest party.
Meloni’s chosen coalition partners - business tycoon Silvio Berlusconi and the anti-immigration populist Matteo Salvini - together seem to have won a clear majority in both Italy’s houses of parliament.
Italy’s election comes hot on the heels of a vote in Sweden which saw the Sweden Democrats become the country’s second largest party. They have their political roots in neo-Nazism.
And remember - in June Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally performed spectacularly in France’s parliamentary election.
The EU is already struggling with what it calls "rule of law issues" with the nationalist governments in Poland and Hungary.
To say there was concern in the corridors of Brussels would be an understatement.

I do like Katys excellent journalist

but the rise of the right across the eu is a huge issue and it’s not just the likes of FN in France look at ADF in Germany and golden dawn in Greece etc.

Austria almost voted a far right govt… Austria !!!!

Almost as if 20 years of economic stagnation caused by joining the euro hasn’t been good for them.

Saint Jeremy was right all along that the euro was an exercise in sucking wealth from southern Europe to north.
