It finally happened

Traditionally Stockton had all day opening on a Wednesday with it being a market town. It was always a good day out!
That's true, and of the elder group are keeping the tradition going. I put my head in the Stag and there were already a few in there but it was. Horse racing only.

By the way, isn't Stockton improving. Not a lot of money about but there's some independents making a real fist of it.

I don't drink much but had a pint Timony Taylor for £4.45 last week in a local village pub in Herefordshire. Price seem to range from £2.20 to £6.50 nowadays.

My first pint in a pub was 50p (Lager and Lime) and that was expensive then - the expensive bars tended to not ask your age.

Brunnies put price of beer up from £2 to £3 when they reopened after lockdown and promised to reduce it when ‘back to normal’ -still £3 a pint

I haven't been out in Stockton for years... I hope the revamp works for Stockton. Such a shame it nosedived after the 90s

Be thankful that the money you pay to eat and drink hasn't risen as much as house prices.

If grocery prices had increased at the same rate as house prices since 1971, then:

  • A 4-pint carton of milk would cost £10.45
  • A chicken would cost £51.18
  • A bunch of 6 bananas would cost £8.47
  • A box of 6 eggs would cost £5.01
  • A loaf of sliced white bread would cost £4.36
  • A leg of lamb would cost £53.18
  • The average weekly expenditure on food for a family of four would be £453.23.

That was from 7 years ago. They're now saying a chicken would be £70.

Fags have gone from under a fiver to £15-£20.

And most chillingly a fredo now costs 25p.
£15-£20 for fags?

In London I'm guessing? £9:50 round here.

Was 5.80 at Headingly last week. Didn't think that was bad for an "event".

I'm used to paying 6 here in Sheffield but that will be for a quality beer. Wouldn't expect to pay anyway near that for mass produced crap.

I always enjoyed going to Stockton rather than Middlesbrough and that was in the 80’s. It always had a better atmosphere in the pubs.

Happy last night. Went to the Cobblestones in Bridgewater for a gig. Last time I was in there was two years ago Guinness only gone up 20p a pint now £3.50

Wainwright's £3:50 Directors £2:50 today, in my local... And its not a Witherspoons its a free house, don't know how they do it?Mind you lagers £4:00 but that's for girls😉
