It’s looking like a potential landslide victory for Joe Biden

As it stands it’s looking like a landslide for Joe Biden in November.

Trump is losing badly in so many battleground states - Colorado, Virginia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, he’s even losing in Florida, Arizona and Texas. In 2016 he beat Clinton by 9 percentage points in Texas.

There’s no conceivable way Trump loses Texas or wins it narrowly and wins the election.

Only things that potentially save the orange buffoon now is there’s a Coronavirus vaccine that he can take the credit for, or Biden comes out of his basement and makes a gaffe of epic proportions.

I await the standard: “BuT tHe PoLlS wErE wRoNg In 2016“.

They were in the margin of error. If these polls are within the same margin, Trump is still toast.

3 head-to-head debates starting end of September could be a disaster for Biden... he's currently doing well by doing nothing... will be interesting to see how the networks try to frame them

Thing is though - a bit like Boris in pmqs - Trump can just scream something like Joe Biden is an alien from planet zog over and over and the majority (or enough) of the electorate will think he won the debate.
That works for his base - not for any of the middle americans who voted for him in 2016, thats where he's losing support. You only get to be the change candidate once - he's blown it

The polls weren't really much wrong in 2016. Hilary Clinton won the popular vote by 2% to 3%, but the undemocratic system the US uses for Presidential elections made Trump President despite getting fewer votes. It's the second time this has happened this century. US is really only a semi-democracy.

Lets hope so.
Still plenty of time of course, and it's worth remembering Clinton had a substantial lead in 2016 polls, though admittedly not quite so large as these. If I remember correctly, Clinton actually got more votes in 2016.
I don't know if there is a 3rd candidate that could confuse the polling as in 2016.

As long as it is an anti Trump vote. Whenever I see Biden I find it hard to believe that he is the saviour of the free world!

I'm amazed some of those Biden leads aren't even higher, take Wisconsin, he screwed over Harley up there, and that's a huge employer and local pride. Pennsylvania, there must be lots of people out in the sticks in the west who still have his back, because the people I know in Phili metro area hate the guy and it seems fairly robust support in those areas against Trump

Trump's racism plays well among older white people. Part of Hilary's problem was that black people didn't turn out for her. Biden, as Obama's VP, has more credibility in that regard.

Kanye was clearly a favour for Trump, to try and entice the black vote away from Biden. Thing is he entered too late (smells of a desperation tactic from Trump) to be on the ballot in the states where it matters, so I believe he has now dropped out.

I would think votes for any independents will be extremely low because Trump has polarised the country into for and against him, unfortunately for him almost 2/3rd of the country seem to be against him.

I think kanye was more likely a combination of mental health and album promotion judging by the videos of his announcements

Even if the Dems win massive landslide... The US will not be a democracy in any way shape or form 🤣.

I'm struggling to think when it has been in the modern era.

It's hard to believe in a country like America with so many brilliant people that it gets a choice out of these 2 to be their leader. Might be a bit of pot calling kettle I realise but beating Trump should be easy. Why choose a 77 year old? He is far more conservative and neoliberal than is good for USA. They have the option of Trump or a fairly right-wing Biden. Imagine how depressing it must be to be left-wing in the US when Biden is your best option.

Obama was an ideal candidate; their choices since then have been awful.

As we saw in our own elections, the pollsters have now corrected their mistakes..

I can just imagine Trump refusing to accept defeat by claiming the result of the election as fake news, he'll have a proper foot-stamping episode on the steps of the Whitehouse, shouting "you'll have to drag me out kicking and screaming" to be followed by him getting dragged out kicking and screaming

Biden is a pretty poor candidate made to look good by Trump's inadequacies. Dems should have picked Bernie as candidate, Biden should pick AOC for VP candidate, she's America's future hopefully.

She is really good, but probably too soon. If Biden pegs it in office, she'd be President. You probably need a lot more political nous to cope with the House, Senate, States and that comes with experience. Though it is possible it would work in her favour too.
