I see talk of getting in 40m plus and building a totally new squad - we have seen previously how too much change can have the opposite effect to the desired one - players take time to settle, teams take time to gel and we have to be up there from the off if we are going to challenge. There are obvious holes to fill already without us making additional problems for ourselves. Isaiah had a phenomenal season, all things considered. I can't imagine anyone saw his impact coming - I had seen him play once or twice as an anonymous sub prior to last year. Several things happened in the last 15 games -
1) teams figured out he was almost our only outlet (similar to Adama towards the end of his time with us) and closed it down
2) Crooks' form tailed off and we lost him to suspension - the understanding they had was brilliant earlier in the season and key to Jones' success
3) I think fatigue kicked in and also I felt he needed a bit more variety in his delivery - things to work on for the lad and the coaches
The way he spoke the other day, it felt like he appreciated what Boro have done for his career at a relatively late stage in his development- a big move for him now is the wrong thing and I hope he sees that.
