Isaiah Jones

Thanks Shaun

Maybe Scottish Championship is too low for him. It is a professional league but I always put it at English Division 2 standard with £1k/£1.5k a week wages (unless you play for Salford!)

I don't think anyone will earn those levels now in English League Two. They are paid in hundreds and no doubt mostly on one year contracts. About five years ago George Friend did a film in which he showed part timers for Gretna and Shildon were picking up higher wages that League Two - they were on £4-600 a week + their normal wage. The down side meant if injured they didn't get paid by their football club and I suppose they could risk the same from their normal job.

I watched it (as posted on another thread). The Doonhamers were unlucky not to get all the points. Allan Johnston is the QoS manager and Andy Halliday was playing for Hearts though he was withdrawn before he lost it completely. One of the Queen of the South players seemed to be offering him out.

Oh that all sounds great - wish I had watched that. Some Scottish clubs have fantastic nicknames don't they.

I always remember Alan Walsh offering a fan out at Feethams. Former Boro forward, Walsh was Darlo's star striker. He was getting subbed near the end and his frustration boiled over when a guy on the terrace was giving dogs of abuse. Walsh pointed at him as he came over to the touchline. "See you outside the back of the stand after the match." Or words to that effect..

Have you got a link to that Friend documentary Rob?
No it was for BBC North East - it was really professionally done. Maybe it has found its way onto youtube. It was part of George's work towards his Journalism degree from Univ of Staffs. It was screened early evening on BBC One I think, maybe Two.

He did indeed. Quite clear the gesture to the carpark behind!

Watched the Queen of the South v Hearts game last night, and Isaiah Jones was by far the best player on the pitch and was given MoM.

Looks a lot stronger and his electric pace frightened the life out of the Hearts defence all night.

Where's Folarin at the moment mate?

There's usually a live Scottish Championship game on on a Friday night by the way. Just go to the BBC Scotland website. Good for those of us who only have normal telly or are interested in something a bit different.
