Is Yarm officially called Yarm-on-Tees?

I always just thought it was Yarm

But obviously there is Stockton-on-Tees and Thornaby-on-Tees

Norton has been known as Norton on Tees previously and I'm sure I've seen signage with that wording somewhere fairly recently?

The on Tees bit always differentiated between council area and the town. As far as I know the town is Stockton but the wider area that covers Thornaby, Yarm and Billingham is Stockton on Tees.

Thornaby has its own Town Council now so that may have something to do with the on Tees bit there

The Stockton on Tees, the only town in two ceremonial counties, Yarm although a surburb was a port once upon a time, so its Yarm /Ingelby/ Thornaby on Tees imho.

The town of Stockton is all in Durham. The council area of Stockton on Tees does cross ceremonial counties

Its not called Yarm-on-Tees Fair .. im sure some residents wont be missing that in a few weeks time

Thornaby was and still has its village, the rest of it was Stockton South Historically.
The only bit that was South Stockton is the area between the old river and the new cutting of the Tees. Basically the golf course and racecourse (Teesside Park shopping)

The Wildeness,I always thought Heads, the Station, the Flour mill and the Sugar factory were South Stockton?
