Is using a home based internet package a thing of the past ?

I have one but I also signed up to a flat fee 10 units of currency a month SIM card for unlimited internet on my smartphone. No contract and cancel anytime. And is less than 10% of my
traditional cable router/wifi set up. And with 5G coming soon the case is even better

I am about to move house and Im thinking whats the point of getting a new contract based internet home connection any more.

I just USB tether the PC to the phone and I got a super fast connection.

Ok the TV is a loss but I spend more time watching Youtube anyway. - much more to offer than BBC/ITV/C4

Just to add the enormous amount invested and being invested in domestic fibre optic services is just a waste of money isn't it. Or am I missing something ?
