Is Tyson Fury a fraud?

With Povetkin testing positive for Covid, Whyte is willing to step in to face Fury in December. This would be a massive fight and Whyte has been kept waiting for a shot at the WBC belt for over 2 years. What's the chances of Fury taking this fight? There should be no issues with doing a deal. It's a fight where Fury will be favourite and one he should win if he's as good as people say. But it will be a proper contest and do great numbers on pay per view.

Oh come on mate, you're better than that.

Wilder isn't an elite boxer, he's an elite puncher but a poor boxer. Klitschko, yes they both have an aged Klitschko on the record.

Beyond that neither have a legend, but Ruiz twice, Parker, Whyte, Povetkin, Brezeale, Martin are all better than Tyson's other opponents (bar Klitschko and Wilder).

AJ has much more depth on his resume. He also started fighting those guys just 2 years into his pro career. Two years in Fury was fighting Zack Page, who? A canadian journeyman with a record of W:21 D:2 L:33.
Btw my issue isn’t with Joshua as I fully expect he’d fight anyone given the chance. My issue is with the match room progeny that run his dull career into the ground.

Eddie Hearn talks the talk but when will he let AJ fight the fights we all want to see.

I would love to see this fight! Good for Tyson who doesn’t seem to have nailed down an opponent and good for Dyllian who deserves his shot at the title. Stranger things have happened!

I'm no fan of Eddie, he's fairly unlikeable. But, to be fair, Wilder has admitted that he was offered £100mill to fight AJ.....and he bottled it. You might ask why AJ didn't offer to fight Fury....because AJ stated he wanted to unify the belts and it's only 9 months that Fury has had a belt, but the rematch clause had to lapse. It has, now AJ wants the fight. Fair play to him, he has shown a singular determination to try and unify.

You have the right to claim AJs career is boring, but I respectfully don't agree. He's been in competitive fights for 10-12 fights in a row now. I don't really enjoy watching bums get skilled over, by Wilder or Fury, that isn't sport, it's career management.

Would be interesting because Dillian likes to rip those body shots, Tyson is good at evading headshots but an 18 stone+ bloke can't get out the way of bodyshots. How would he take them? Would be an interesting match up

Im not sure you can really criticise Fury for "ducking fights" when his comeback fight after 2 years old of the ring with massive mental health and weight issues was Wilder! Can't imagine too many being up for using Wilder as a comeback fight.

He had two fights prior to the first Wilder fight, Seferi and Pianetta.

I’d love to see Whyte fight Fury, I’d love to see Whyte win but think Fury would get the win.
Yeah Fury would be huge favourite, but if Whyte can work out the puzzle of how to get inside it would be game on. Not entirely sure Whyte has teh footwork to do it though, he walks like he's got lead boots on

i totally forgot about them! I think it was still quite impressive though to go the distance and get up in the last round from that combo.

I think the point is AJs warm up fight is against number 11 in the world, a man only beaten by Klitschko. Fury is fighting someone no one has heard of and ranked 36. He is unbeaten though, so who knows, maybe he is an unknown force.
AJs isnt a warmup fight, its a mandatory!

£100m????

Nonsense!!!

£100m????

Nonsense!!!
Hearn stated earlier in teh year they had made a huge offer to set wilder up for life, more than all his other fights put together, then(I guess you haven't seen it) Wilder tweeted yesterday accusing Fury of being a cheat and a coward and said he even turned down a $100m offer to fight AJ. Wilder's own words. It's all over youtuve coming out of Wilders mouth and confirming what Hearn said when they were negotiating last year. It might sound nonsense, but it clearly isn't

Wilder said he was “offered more money to fight Joshu” than fury on the tweet. Nothing confirming 100mill. Just more than he was getting for fury

You're right, i didnt see it, because he didnt say that!! He said he turned down more money to fight Fury... no number was mentioned!!

Canelo is the current active boxer who pulls in the biggest PPV numbers and he averages around £35m per fight! No way on earth was wilder getting 100m!!!

The 100mill was fight with rematch. the actual figure is kind of irrelevant though, Wilder bottled it, that's the point.

He'd fight Joshua but he's running scared.
The fight is basically arranged isn't it?
2 fight deal last I heard.

Obviously they will wait until fans are allowed into whichever venue they choose. It would sell out the MGM Grand for example, would probably sell out Wembley.

I have no idea TBH but I couldn’t see them giving up all that ticket money so it will be after the pandemic. It would deffo sell out Wembley, fight of the century you’d think.

I reckon it could sell out Wembley x2. PPV sales would be ridiculous, likely at £30 as well!!
