Is this season finished?

Or simply, we know you worked your socks off & should have achieved something in your career that you may never do again but your not as important as PL teams, because you don't have VAR at your level & you only have a ground that holds a couple of hundred fans, but it doesn't really matter your level, but chin up

They had almost won their league & a step closer to Liverpool but alas cancelled
E74 you are spot on about this, why should Liverpool FC (just a football club at the end of the day) be any more important than Stockton FC (just a football club at the end of the day)? Its typical of the hype surrounding the Sky clubs that people should think they are a special case. They are only more important in a business and money sense, not in a footballing sense. All the leagues should finish or none of the leagues should finish.

Its like telling a football fan from a lower league team who are about to fold, it doesn't matter you can go & follow the nearest PL team to you
At the end of the day we follow our football clubs all over the country not for glory, yes it's nice if it comes along, but because it's our team & our identity
A Stockton fan, Hartlepool fan, Bury fan is as good a supporter as a Liverpool fan stood on the kop with his scarf full of badges, I work with a Marske United fan who follows them all over the country, sponsors a player every season & a Stockton Town ST holder, their season is finished, because it doesn't matter, don't think they agree & neither do I

I actually think it’s easy to have undying loyalty and fanaticism to a club like Liverpool, it’s hardly a trial to watch the likes of Mane and Van Dyke. Much harder to follow a lower league club all over the place, or even at home, in the middle of a cold and wet winter. These fans are the true backbone of our football pyramid.

Totally agree, now those fans are special 👍

I really feel for Liverpool fans if it is over.
Even feel some sympathy for Leeds and WBA.
But in my view it's really not worth risking anyone's life for.

they're talking about playing the remaining pl games in a behind closed doors, world cup like event in the midlands, with all the teams locked away

Is that documented anywhere?
How would they go through with it - every player from each team and the supporting staff tested before every game?
Lives are more important than the results or season itself, but by god if it were possible to so it safely it would provide a hell of a boost to all of us who love the game.

The thought that someone might be injured though and put strain on a health system under relentless pressure isn't feasible surely?

Even that would be nowhere near adequate, every hotel staff member, coach driver, member of the players families and who they interact with, all the ground staff wherever it is played, camera crews and support staff commentators etc. I assume that it would still need police and medical cover etc. Sounds like a complete non-starter to me.

I don't see how it could be worth the risk of say one player infecting near enough two first team squads, and then all of their families. It would be irresponsible in the extreme and a legal minefield if someone does get ill.

Very good points there, it seems even behind closed doors is a bit commitment

If we remain in social distancing lockdown I don't think there is any way in the world they can resume playing football - fans or no fans
True, Caesium mentioned some valid points how even with no fans it cant go ahead, never thought of them TBH, could you imagine how the police would try & control crowds who would try & attend, its a no go

And Caesium is 100% correct. I don't think its an issue with unwelcome attendees. Football is a contact sport. If the public are asked to make a massive life sacrifice, not working, seeing their businesses disappear or at the very least remain on suspension, the thought of watching footballers lock horns just wouldn't sit right with anybody but diehard fans. It won't happen until we come out of social distancing.
